Duel : A game of mortal conflict. By Vaudeville Software.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
REQUIREMENTS:
2 joysticks.
1 computer.
2 people.
512K or more of memory (I think.)
INTRODUCTION:
This programme is public domain, give it to your friends, inflict it on your
enemies, feed it to your dog, pin it up over your bed, just don't go making
any major cash from it.
Duel was the result of frustration encounted one night while I was working
on my major project. Sick of complex interface systems and thirty page
listings I decided to turn my hand to a good old purile combat game. No
plot line, no mission, just get in there and destroy the other player to
the best of your abilities.
STARTUP:
Duel should run from anywhere you wish to place it, but a couple of files
should be in their proper places: The font "Segmented/8" should be in the
current fonts directory and the directory "AMOS_System" should be in the
root directory of the same disc as the Duel folder, with the file C3d.Lib
in it. Hopefully with those things taken care of the game will run you
will be presented with a simple menu screen with DUEL written in large
letters above it.
OPTIONS:
This is really simple, joystick 1 will highlight an option, and fire will
select it. "Begin" will start the game, "Reset" will reset the scores and
"Quit" will exit to the host system.
THE GAME:
If you can't work out how to play you are beyond help, but here are some
pointers anyway:
1) Crashing into anything is a bad idea and will cost you energy (displayed
on the right side of the HUD.)
2) If you go to far outside the area around the nine cubes you will get a
message something like "RANGE WARNING:FORFEIT IMMINENT." Any further
movement in the direction you are facing will result in instant death on your
part, so reverse and get back into the frey.
3) Only one laser can be shot at a time, so aim carefully.
CONFESSIONS:
The background images were to be found in one of the demos supplied with
AMOS 3D. All bug reports, comments, law suits and dirty photographs please
forward to:
