  14.   I'm an unexperienced Unix-on-an-Amiga user. Now I have Linux (0.9.13) working
  15. for 2 days. :)

  17. My computer system:
  18.   - A1200
  19.   - 4 Mb fast, 2 Mb chip
  20.   - MTec1228 68030+68881
  21.   - 1080 Mb IDE HD (Western Digital Caviar WDC 21something)
  22.   - Kickstart 3.0

  24. While installing I found a few problems:
  25.   - 1.2.13pl5 kernel    My IDE HD does't work with this kernel.
  26.     1.2.13pl3 kernel    It looks like that the HD hangs when I try to
  27.                           read/write a big file.
  28.   - 0.9.12 kernel       The HD seems to work, but it work VERY slooow.
  29.                         On bootup (Starting Linux) there is a timeout when
  30.                           probing the HD partitions (hda#).

  32. btw.: The 0.9.12 and 1.2.13pl5 kernels are compiled only for the Amiga.

  34.   How can I solve this problem? Should I change something in HDToolBox? Should
  35. I use the 'real' kernel instead of the kernel which are compiled for the Amiga

  38.   Now I use the 0.9.13 kernel. It works fine. Is there a newer kernel which
  39. will work with my system (which doesn't have the same problem as 1.2.13pl5?

  41. I have a few more questions...:
  42.   - What is the difference between amiboot-2.2 and lilo-0.4a?
  43.   - I just have 4 Mb fast and 2 Mb chip... this means that I can't
  44.       use X-Windows...
  45.     Why can't I use X when I have virtual memory? Is it because not evrything
  46.       can be swapped to VM or is it just because it is tooo sloow?
