  34. While in college, my roommate and I put together a couple of quite long
  35. "dumb" null modem cables.  What I mean by that is they were only three wires
  36. (transmit, receive and ground) with no hardware handshaking wires in them.
  37. One of them was 100 feet long and we could achieve 115,200 baud with it.  The
  38. other one was 250 feet long and, because of it's length, we had to lower the
  39. baud rate to 57,600.  Quite good for such a long cable!
