- In 1984, about a year before I bought my A1000 I bought a Unix system
- that used a 68000, the MMU that Motorola made (68451?), and had 750 Kb
- of ram. The kernel was around 150 Kb if I recall correctly. It had
- memory protection but no virtual memory. There were much faster
- machines available that used custom MMUs that were little more than
- "base and bounds registers". So neither of the above points would
- rule out Unix style system software.

- My 1984 Unix system did quite reliable multitasking, much more
- reliable than the Amiga, on a system with comparable hardware. It
- certainly wasn't as much fun or as responsive as the Amiga though.
