-
- No! The demise of the Amiga was because the hardware engineers had
- to waste all their time trying to keep backwards compatable with
- the old chipsets because certain games programmers could not be bothered
- to write within the spec of the OS. And don't anybody start with this
- 'the OS is too slow' shite - there are ways and means of getting around
- most of the games-programmer-unfriendly aspects if the OS without
- ditching the entire thing - as the new game Breathless proves!!!!
-
- It was shear laziness on the part of the games programmers to bypass
- almost entirely the OS and hit the hardware direct - and this ultimately
- caused problems for the Amiga's designers who knew that they could
- have a major disaster on their hands if they put out a machine which
- didn't run the majority of the existing games software.
-
- This was *one of* the major factors as to why the Amiga lost it's edge
- in the market - and why it ultimately slipped to where it is now.
- It has nothing to do with C++ programmers!!! I for one fully support
- ATech's stand on using the OS - the Amiga is doomed without it!! :-<

-
- Nah - coz you can't hit the hardware direct on a PC and still expect it
- to work on all systems. You need to use drivers, etc. And I thought this
- was the *last* thing you wanted to do...? :->
-
- If the only future you can see in the Amiga is in hardware bashing then
- can I suggest you move over to the PC right now...?? I'd rather have you
- over there screwing up PC hardware/software designers than over in the
- Amiga camp screwing up ATech.
