- No, it's not. Not competitively. Not in a fashion that allows you to upgrade
- your machine without breaking all your old software.
-
- Did you enjoy having to sell your 500 to run AGA software? Would you enjoy
- having to get rid of your 1200 to run new games? Etc? Why not simply use APIs
- and be able to keep up with technology?

- Play Havoc on a PowerMac with a 3D accelerator. Then tell me again how lame
- standard chips are.

- It's not a PC. It runs AmigaOS. So what if the graphics card is basically a PC
- card? We use PC drives, hard disks, serial/parallel ports, etc. Stop moaning
- about the loss of your precious chipset and get with the program.

- The new PC era is already beginning. Witness the new cards being released AND
- supported by new games.

- Your soon?

- Guess you have something against people making money from programming.

-
- My computer is not a car. The custom chips are the heart of the problem, and
- the only futureproof, cost-effective way to improve them is to replace them in a
- logical fashion. Don't you think if custom chipsets were so great, PCs would
- have them?
-
- Standard graphics cards do real world tasks really well, not just stupid 'new
- ways of doing graphics' that mysteriously turn out to be really shitty looking
- games.

-
- The PPC is way faster and way cheaper than the 68060. I don't want to stay with
- the 680x0 line, and serious users agree with me. Face it, you're an anacronism.
- Go away and code C64 demos. Hey, hit that hardware!

-
- >>Sure. This is just the constructive feedback AT needs. NOT!
-
- >How can I be constructive with whom is destroying my system?
-
- You'd rather use custom vapourware that will cost twice as much and offer less,
- and be obsolete by the time it was released. Dave Haynie agrees that the custom
- chip idea is unworkable - why can't you just shut up and understand that hitting
- the hardware is just fucking stupid?
-
- <obscenely long and boring .sig cut>
-
- Yes, I'm fucking sick of this thread. If you don't like the idea of upgradeable
- graphics, stay with your shitty A1200s. Enjoy the graveyard.
