- Well, I thought it might be pretty neat to watch the Atlanta thingy
- that was b-cast at noon EST (US) today and see what was going on.
-
- So I jumped over to aminet and dloaded ACuSeeMe2.02, which from the
- measley 250 character readme said it was a port of CuSeeMe with no
- explanations as to what it took to run it. I had deleted the last
- version I had downloaded from someplace over a year ago cause it was
- an instant crash everytime I clicked on it. I sort of hoped this one
- would be better.
-
- Silly me, but no damned docs in it whatsoever! I had to join an irc
- group to get told that my 'can't allocate enuf pens' error was cause
- I wasn't using a 32 color screen. NTSC Low-Res to be exact. Hell, I
- didn't even know if my ECS machine would run in that poor a mode!
-
- Well, it turns out I guess it will, but AFAIC somebody stole all the
- sliced bread, bottled beer and locking buttons on the shithouse doors!
-
- The fonts weren't readable at all until I chose a thinpaz about 1/2"
- high. 'tuning' into noel.pd.org, I was able to see a few occasional
- pieces of a picture I think had an "Amiga" in it, and a few squawks
- at an uncontrollable volume level came out of my speakers. I just
- found the readme again, says the volume control doesn't work. Duuhh
-
- It also says the M button is for magnify, and P is for opening and
- closing the control panel. Well, maybe on somebodies machine, but on
- mine the M is the disappear button! The P works IF you haven't
- touched the M first, and of course if you have, then the P isn't
- there to click anyway.
-
- The actual picture might have had 4 shades of grey in it, maybe. It
- sure as hell wasn't 32 color by any stretch of the imagination.
-
- The machine is a A2k/w2630/9megs, running 3.1 with a load of mcx
- applied patches.
-
- Did I do something wrong?, or is this ACuSeeMe proggy a drive space
- waster? And if its a space waster, why hasn't it been fixed?
