  18. I've noticed some scary behaviour with the floppy drives on Amiga's. The same
  19. thing seems to happen on A1200 and A500 machines.

  21. I was wondering if anybody else has seen the same behaviour and can shed some
  22. more light on the issue.

  24. What I have noticed is that if you format a floppy and put some files on it all
  25. is fine. If some more files are written to the floppy using a **DIFFERENT**
  26. floppy drive then all hell breaks loose. You see all sorts of bad block errors,
  27. volume not validated and even not a dos disk in volume.

  29. I sell a game and this has happened on at least 4 different drives. I
  30. reproduced it with ease using a second floppy disk drive.

  32. I can only hazard a guess and suggest that if two floppy driver are slightly
  33. different (in terms of rotation speed, or alignment) then when one writes to a
  34. disk that was formatted and previously written to on another, data is scribbled
  35. on.

  37. I have good evidence to suggest that this is a generic problem rather than
  38. being specific to my Amiga......

  40. So has anybody out there seen this? What can you do about it?
