  16. I bought my first compiler yesterday and it is the SAS/C. I have played
  17. aroung with it at a friend's machine, trying my first C programs (from the
  18. K&R). I liked the environment and the comfort of the utilities that much,
  19. that I decided to buy a product, even if it is not longer supported by the
  20. manufacturer. Another reason was, that it is still bugfixed by the
  21. programmers. Thanks !

  23. Now I have applied all patches upto 6.56 and have some questions:
  24. (especially to the programmers of SAS/C who are reading this group)

  26.  ╖ I will soon get a CD-ROM with the official OS3.1 includes from AT (on a
  27.    german Amiga Mag's CD). Now I have noticed, that during the update
  28.    processes, some standard includes were also processed. Shall I never
  29.    replace my SAS/C includes ? (Besides that, there is a slightly newer
  30.    release on some Fish CD-ROM)

  32.  ╖ Is there an option to setup/define the size of the scsmsg error browser?
  33.    I have it automatically start when starting my editor's C setup. The
  34.    windowsizes are not ideal for me. Also I am missing an option to make
  35.    the close button only hide, not exit the browser utility.

  37.  ╖ After compiling a very simple example from the K&R
  38.    (Fahrenheit2Celsius.c) and compiling it such as descriped in the
  39.    according chapters for the debugger in the docs I wanted to try out the
  40.    debugging. I shift clicked the Debug along with the Exe and got a Red
  41.    Alert. This also happens with "Hello World.c" and all other programs I
  42.    have tried. The debugger opens a CON, opens its screen, a window on it,
  43.    which says: "<No source>" and the machine crashes. But - the source _is_
  44.    in current directory, I also copyied the stdio.h (to go sure) to this
  45.    dir. No way, I get bad crashes. I was never able to run the debugger :-(
  46.    I do not use any MWB icons with ╗╗╗ Icon by Martin etc. ½½½½ in it.
  47.    I launched from the original SAS icon.

  49.    If there should be interest, I will send a full report of my

  54. Some other thing would be of interest for me: I can not get the examples of
  55. the K&R (2nd edition) be compiled. I get an error 73, but if I leave out
  56. the stdio_protos or the stio.h this produces an error as well. How can I
  57. avoid this ? I did not find a solution in the manual. The program I am
  58. talking about is on the beginning of the book, when it comes to putchar()
  59. (the simple copy examples).
