- Hi Jens !
-
- pwp> So, wouldn't it be possible to do AGA graphicroutines on a gfxcard ?
-
- Yes, ofcourse ! Many of this effects are drawn in Chunky-Mode and
- then converted to Planar-mode (ZIF etc) ...
- I already did some ZIF-alike Texturemapping on my GFX-Card, it's
- running in a Window on the Workbench (av 6000 Faces) with
- 25FPS (A4060), and there is still Processortime left ... :)
-
- [I'm using GFX/WriteChunkypixels to draw in the Window]
-
- pwp> The only speedproblem could be ZII with less than 3.5 MB/s, but is
- pwp> the AGA-chipram really faster ??
-
- Depends on the Screen-depth, with 4 Colors a A4030 or A4060 you get upto
- 7.2MB/s (A4040 only 50% of that !), but the most effects run in 64-256
- Colors, the Bandwidth reduces the Speed to 3-3.8MB/s (Overscan etc), so
- overall drawn on a Gfx-Card it will be faster because the C2P-Function is
- useless. (And this gives 20-30% more Performance too !)
-
- Bye,
- Holger
