  29. Paul clearly stated that telnetting is not an option since he has to have an
  30. account at bix and a local IP for that. I for one agree with him on that part.

  32. You probably do a good job on bix, help out many people with various problems
  33. in this and other c.s.a groups but I have to agree with Paul that your
  34. 'use bix or die' messages start to be irritating. Lots of european developers
  35. have stated that they don't want support on BIX for the simple reasons that
  36. bix is not available at local phone charges. If support was to go to an online
  37. service compuserv would probably be just as good, they have local POP's in many
  38. areas and are expanding rapidly.

  40. I think the Internet has everything needed for developer support not to forget
  41. that once setup this system can not only handle developer support but also
  42. support to the public, and maybe support from developers to other developers
  43. and the public.

  45. If this means we have to wait some more so be it. I don't mind waiting a
  46. bit longer if that means a support program run by AT on their machines with
  47. their rules instead of an online service with THEIR regulations. The BIX
  48. 'copyright on message base' problem is still fresh in my memory. You told me
  49. in private mail that this was not a problem but everytime the idea to link the
  50. BIX & ADSP message bases back in the old days the answer was that BIX would
  51. not allow this because they had a collection copyright on the messages.
