  22. I have a feeling it will become increasingly more pricey and difficult to
  23. 'double' the performance of each generation. Ever since the 486 was released
  24. Intel has barely been able to get a 2 times performance increase in each
  25. generation.

  27. (Unless of course you like to compare SpecMarks, but those actually show how
  28. well compiler technology is doing, not how good the CPU's are.  I mean, when
  29. looking at the specmarks you would get the impression that the Pentium is 3-4
  30. times as fast as the 486 at same MHz, while in real life it is more like 1.5-2
  31. times.  They are in fact comparing a 486 system which was produced 5 years ago
  32. with 'old' compiler technology, to the latest Pentium systems with more memory,
  33. better compilers and faster HD's.  That's not what I call measuring CPU
  34. performance.)
