-
- : Eh.. Why don't you explain why a display list makes WritePixel fast ?
-
- Look in another followup, I even posted a possible innerlopp for the
- pixel primitive for a replace operation.
-
- : > I wonder why they refuse to use the system for their realtime work?
-
- : I don't wonder. I have given reasons often enough and many c0d3rz even
- : agreed.
-
- Great, you should work for AT as an OS missionary and preach the good
- words...
-
- : > Ever windered yourself.. or just "coder = lame" come to your mind and

-
- : I have often made statements about that situation. Accusing me of
- : "stopping analysing the situation" doesn't give you any point.
-
- Nope, it was not a point, just something I noticed about you...
-
- : > Yes, if it wasn't for CBM management the amiga demo coderz would have

-
- : Yes, but besides the point.
-
- I love the way you take off your part of the discution and comment
- almost out of context...
-
- : > I blame CBM for the amiga death, and the status of the amiga when they

-
- I beleive the above was a very legitimate continuation to your words, but
- we dont seee them here so will 'never' know.

-
- : And adding insults doesn't help you either.
-
- I usually take the tone of the corespondant...

- : >: not work on other hardware.
-
- : > Yes... but what I tryed to say i... are you mad that you cant play games
- : > design for ECS or AGA on a third party PC type based gfx card?
-
- : Mad ? No. I am rather disappointed that the games do not even run on
- : standard ECS or AGA displays. That I have to use arcane floppies, that
- : I have to disable everything else and still fail to use games.
-
- Thats very sad indeed... Maybe AT will start game developer on the right
- foot this time. With viable game library, and/or extensive and precise
- guideline for portability, but could choose to look the other way like CBM
- did.
-
- : I mean, if I wanted that I could have bought a PC.
-
- If you really want to play games, get something like a Sony playstation.
- Speaking of this... sony showed its possible to get game people to use the
- OS :) Like 3do . CBM failed to do the same.
-
- : > (From cbm) spend alot of R&D and time to make a chip compatible with ECS,
- : > and do this because of HW hitting games, but not releasing HW info.Smart
-
- : The did not spend alot of R&D (at all) and it is compatible with ECS not
- : because of some effort but because it was developed from ECS.
-
- Sound true.
-
- : > A much better aproach: CBM 1 year before the A3000 come out warn that
- : > "next generation of machine will not sport a compatible chipset"...
-
- : Would have been a lie. No ? The A3000 has a compatible chipset.
-
- Yes, but dont you think CBM planned things in advance? I was not talking
- about the A3000 but future machine. And if AGA was so cheap and easy to
- build how come my A3000 dont have it :) CBM lack of embition? The A3000
- + AGA should have been the last step of upgrading ocs.
-
- : > craze, and uses the lowlevelgfx.library of the machine with all the machine
-
- : You are an idiot if you believe that a "lowlevelgfx.library" would a)
- : be used or b) would make sense at all.
-
- I would use it, it make plenty of sense to offer primitive render list,
- & HW specific extensions.
-
- : > Read
- : > what I say from the begining, this is getting silly.
-
- : Right. This is getting silly. You basically say: "make it easy for
- : us to junk the OS, we won't care for it anyway, who cares for
- : compatibility if we can make junk for the LCD machines. Our main
- : clients won't buy more than the LCD machines anyway."
-
- Nope, I said in short: "CBM allowed game developer to hit the HW when
- the A1000 came out, they should have provided provision to make it
- easyer and more stable. basicly a OS_SLEEP(ON) function, the machine is
- yours after x.x second. OS_SLEEP(OFF) the system is back and running."
-
- But now I dont want AT to do this unless they cannot provide a good
- interface to their HW. If they offer writepixel(), rectfill() etc
- only and very lame interface to HW like the copper or blitter then
- they better start writting a clear HW manual with guideline.
-
-
- : And the next is a cry that moans about weak hardware and the _CRAP_
- : you have to use.
-
- I wont buy AT machine if their price is out there in CBM cloud &
- the HW is swiming in apple sauce.
-
- I still think Amiga created one of the best 16bit machine, but it
- stoped there. I started to get pissed at CBM when the a500/a2000
- came out...
-
- : > Nope, the amiga OS is not here at all for realtime 2d...
- : > The amigaos is FAR from delivering what I need from the amiga HW.
-
- : The Amiga HW is far away from delivering what I need from an Amiga.
- : AmigaOS has never been the problem, especially not for _Multimedia_.
- : It is a problem for the c00l c0d3rz that just want C64s on steroids..
- : well, you can use a PlayStation now... oh no, it has an OS too. 3DO ?
- : what schmucks that put an OS there too in the way of the truly perfect
- : invincible c0d3rz.
-
- My good coderz love the psx dev station... must not be coders but
- full fledge programers.
-
- The amiga graphics.library is too limited... it would be OK with a 060 +
- nice HW, but 030+ECS or 020+AGA is a more common setup for the past few
- years. I dont consider software in scala class C64 program on steroids.
-
- : > CBM made it a standart to hit the HW...
-
- : They made it an _option_. An _option_ that requires _cooperation_ on
- : behalf of the programmer.
-
- : The hardware manual is _NOT_ and has _NEVER BEEN_ a guide to Amiga
- : programming.
-
- : > Its the amiga way,
-
- : Definitely NOT. It is the c0d3rz way.
-
- Its the way to produce game in the class you saw in the past on 7mhz 68000.
- CBM never offered a better way even when AGA came out...
