  13. Well... not quite... The way to do this kind of thing is by
  14. finding the current view (and storing it!) first. Then do
  15. a loadview with a nulll  (oops :) viewport. Now the chips
  16. are in a known default state, and poking them directly is safe.
  17. To get the old screen back, you just loadview with the old view-
  18. port you stored before.
