  2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. PM Patrol is robust 32-bit resource management & control software for
  4. OS/2 2.1+.  Provides in-depth yet simple viewing of many system settings,
  5. configuration, and performance monitors including local & network Print
  6. Queues, drives on-line, space available on selectable drives, swap
  7. utilization, available real & virtual memory, battery life, graphical CPU
  8. utilization, Process Status for per-process & thread details, Process
  9. Metering, multimedia enabled resource alarms, and much more.  Full online
  10. documentation.

  12. Includes numerous integrated utilities; Scheduler, Program Launcher,
  13. Fast Find, Fast Format, Drive/File map, C/C++ APIs for real-time interface.

  16. The online help is virtually a complete manual for PM Patrol.  Lots of
  17. detail about every facet of the product.  Right from the start when you
  18. first run PM Patrol, you will be introduced to PM Patrol with some helpful
  19. quick-hits to get you going.

  21. PM Patrol is shareware and is freely distributable as long as no files
  22. contained in the software are modified. Product Serial numbers provided
  23. by WallyWare are not distributable.

  26. Installation:
  27. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
  28. PM Patrol requires no device drivers and does NOT modify your CONFIG.SYS.
  29. Nor does it copy files into your OS/2 system directories - only its own.
  30.  
  31. The installation process will copy the PM Patrol files to the directory
  32. which you specify, and will create a OS/2 desktop folder for PM Patrol.
  33. Optionally, you can tell the installation to also create a shadow copy
  34. of PM Patrol for the OS/2 Startup folder so PM Patrol starts-up every time
  35. you start OS/2.

  37. Please be aware that an unregistered copy of PM Patrol, although fully
  38. functional, has a run-time limit of 2 hours each time it's run.  Upon
  39. registration, this limitation is lifted and "nag-screens" are removed.
  40.  
  41. To install PM Patrol:
  42.   1. If installing from the PM Patrol distribution diskette, change to
  43.      the diskette drive (ie. A:) and enter "INSTALL".  Or, select the
  44.      "Install" icon on the OS/2 Drives folder for this drive.

  46.      if installing from a downloaded ZIP file of PM Patrol, unzip the
  47.      PM Patrol files into a temporary direrctory (ie. C:\TMP).  Change to
  48.      that directory and enter "INSTALL".  Or, select the "Install" icon
  49.      on the OS/2 Drives folder for the directory.

  51.   2. Follow the simple instructions from the installation program. You
  52.      will be asked for the destination directory to install PM Patrol files.

  54. To upgrade over previous installation of PM Patrol:
  55.   1. If installing from the PM Patrol distribution diskette, change to
  56.      the diskette drive (ie. A:) and enter "INSTALL".  Or, select the
  57.      "Install" icon on the OS/2 Drives folder for this drive.

  59.      if installing from a downloaded ZIP file of PM Patrol, unzip the
  60.      PM Patrol files into a temporary direrctory (ie. C:\TMP).  Change to
  61.      that directory and enter "INSTALL".  Or, select the "Install" icon
  62.      on the OS/2 Drives folder for the directory.

  64.   2. Follow the simple instructions from the installation program. You
  65.      will be asked for the destination directory to install PM Patrol files.
  66.      Enter the drive and path where PM Patrol was originally installed.

  68.   3. Delete the PM Patrol files from the temporary directory (ie. C:\TMP).
  69.      But, remember to hold on to the PM Patrol ZIP file you downloaded
  70.      should you ever need to reinstall.

  72. To unintall PM Patrol:
  73.   1. Shutdown PM Patrol if running
  74.  
  75.   2. Delete the PM Patrol directory (ie. c:\pmp) and its contents
  76.  
  77.   3. Remove the PM Patrol Folder
  78.  
  79.   4. If during installation of PM Patrol, you selected to have PM Patrol
  80.      place a shadow copy in your OS/2 System Startup folder, then remove
  81.      PM Patrol from there as well.
