  8. Installer, as well as information that was not available for our

  20.    Software Requirements

  22.    -  IBM Operating System/2(*) (OS/2) Version 2.11 or Warp 3.0.
  23.  
  24.    -  IBM Developer's Toolkit for OS/2 Version 2.11 or Warp 3.0.

  26.       NOTE:
  27.            - If the resource compiler (RC.EXE) is installed with the
  28.              version of OS/2 you are using, the toolkit is only
  29.              required if you:
  30.              -  Create application exits that must be compiled
  31.              -  Change the online help and must use the IPFC.EXE compiler
  32.              -  Compile the EPFIHOOK.DLL to customize directory processing.
  33.              If the resource compiler is installed and you do not do
  34.              these tasks for your installation, you can disregard any
  35.              notices about requiring the toolkit that you receive
  36.              during the rename process.

  38.            - Users of your product do not need the toolkit on their systems
  39.              to install your products.

  41.    -  To install from an AS/400 host system, you need IBM PC Support/400
  42.       (Program Number 5738-PC1) Version 2 Release 2.

  44.    -  To install from a VM, MVS, or VSE host system, you need IBM Extended
  45.       Services for OS/2 with Communications Manager or Communication
  46.       Manager/2 installed.

  49.    Hardware Requirements

  51.    -  A personal computer that runs OS/2 Version 2.11 or Warp 3.0

  53.    -  15 MB of fixed disk space above that required by OS/2.
  54.       This includes .7 MB for each national language version installed
  55.       and approximately 1.4 MB for a temporary copy of Software Installer
  56.       that is removed after installation.

  58.    -  .5 MB of memory above that required by OS/2

  127. Installing Software Installer
  128. -----------------------------
  129.    From a Diskette Drive
  130.    ---------------------
  131.    1. Insert Diskette 1 into a drive.  In this example, the A
  132.       drive is used.
  133.  
  134.    2. Type the following an the OS/2 command prompt:
  135.             A:\INSTALL
  136.  
  137.    3. Press Enter.
  138.  
  139.    4. Follow the on-screen prompts.
  140.  
  141.    From a Local Area Network Server
  142.    --------------------------------
  143.    If you have purchased multiple licenses of Software Installer, consider
  144.    placing it on a LAN server for easier access.  To do this, follow these
  145.    steps:
  146.  
  147.       1. Create a directory on the LAN server to store the Software Installer
  148.          files.  For example:
  149.             MKDIR J:\INSTALL2
  150.  
  151.       2. Copy each Software Installer diskette into this directory.  You can
  152.          do this using the OS/2 XCOPY command.  For example:
  153.             XCOPY A:* J:\INSTALL2 /S
  154.  
  155.       3. Give all licensed users access to the LAN drive you copied the
  156.          diskettes into (in this example, the J drive).
  157.  
  158.    After these steps are complete, users with access to the LAN drive can
  159.    access the alias drive and directory and install Software Installer by
  160.    typing:
  161.             INSTALL
  162.  
  163.    After following the installation dialog with Software Installer,
  164.    the LAN users are ready to use Software Installer on their workstations.
