Single File Virus Check Version 1.0 (January 8th, 1997)
===> NOW (SINCE VERSION 0.9) WITH IBM ANTIVIRUS VERSION 3.0 SUPPORT <===
===> NOW (SINCE VERSION 1.0) WITH DUTCH LANGUAGE SUPPORT <===
**************** English *****************************
Single File Virus Check is an add-on application for IBM AntiVirus. This application
allows virus checking for single files, while IBM AntiVirus is only be able to check whole
directories or partitions.
After starting Single File Virus Check, a little window appears, that contains a menu bar,
an entry field for entering path and name of the file to be checked and a "Check file"
push button for starting virus check. You're able to enter path and file name on different,
simple ways:
- drag & drop a file object directly from the OS/2 workplace shell onto the entry field of
the window
- type path & name manually
- select the file with the FileOpen dialogue, which appears after chosing the item
Open in the menu File
NEW * Since version 0.6 you're able to drag and drop a folder or file(s) onto the
NEW * FILECHEQ.EXE object. Single File Virus Check will start then and starts
NEW * checking these file(s) or folder(s) immediately.
The selected file will be checked after pushing the "Check file" button. You will be
informed about the result of the check. (you get a message in the "Result:" field of
the window, f. e. "This file is not infected")
Warning: The selected file which will be checked may not be used from another program
during the checking phase. You have to improve this, before you start virus checking for
the selected file.
Installation:
Copy both files in this archieve - filecheq.exe and filecheq.ico - to a new directory
(for example: d:\filecheq). After doing that, the program is ready to run. Please start
Single File Virus Check by klicking the program icon or entering "filecheq" in an
OS/2 box. If the program starts for the first time, the configuration window automatically
appears and you have to select the IBM AntiVirus installation path (by selecting the file
IBMAVSP.EXE in the IBM AntiVirus path). After configuring you have to push "SAVE"
button to save the configuration.
Changes from version 0.2 to 0.5:
- Size of entry field is expanded to 255 characters (for path and file name). In previous
versions there was been an limitation of 32 characters.
- If the entry field contains a directory instead of a file, IBM AntiVirus will check the
whole directory with all included files and subdirectories.
- If the entry field contains a directory and/or file name that not exists, an error
message appears.
- A "Search" button is implemented. You now get the File Open Dialogue also by click
onto this new button. It's the same procedure as chosing the "Open ..." entry in the
"File" menu.
- If template- or folder-objects are dropped onto the entry field you'll get a warning,
that these are no valid objects for checking. It's only allowed to drop object types, that
you find on the "Type"-TabPage of the settings notebook from any workplace shell
object (such as binary data, executable, or something else).
- Maximize button no longer exists for the program window.
- Program window now has a border.
- Information/About is updated.
Changes from version 0.5 to 0.7:
- You can now drag and drop files (one or more) or folder onto the FILECHEQ.EXE
object, so Single File Virus Check will start and will check these files or folders.
- Entry field now is colored yellow during virus check, if the result appears, it will
be colored green (= file(s) not infected) or red (= file(s) virus infected!)
- There's a new menu item. File/Configure starts a configuration window, which allows
you to edit and save the configuration file CHECK.CFG. In this window you can select the
path of you IBM AntiVirus installation and you're able to disable system sounds.
- In file CHECK.CFG there's now a parameter SOUND (default: =YES). With default
SOUND=YES a system beep will appear after virus check. (one time short = file(s) not
infected, three times long = file(s) virus infected!). If this paramter is set to SOUND=NO,
the system beeps are disabled.
- There's a new icon for Single File Virus Check (very special thanks to Timm Wimmers
for this great artwork!).
Changes from version 0.7 to 0.8:
- If you want to, Single File Virus Check gives you all the messages, menues and
statements in german language. To get this, please select Configure ... from the File
Menu. In this configuration dialogue you now have the choice to select "german" as
language. Default is "english".
- Some major bugs are fixed now. For example, Single File Virus Check now has no
problems with file names containing spaces. Now there are also no problems with
"hanging" program, if IBM AntiVirus reports a virus infection.
Changes from version 0.8 to 0.9:
- Single File Virus Check now support IBM AntiVirus' latest version 3.0. This means,
that in file check.cfg there must be now the complete path _and_ filename (IBMAVSP.EXE
for IBM AntiVirus until version 2.5x _or_ IBMAVSP2.EXE for IBM AntiVirus since version 3.0).
Changes from version 0.9 to 1.0:
- Single File Virus Check now remembers the last directory from where you have selected
a file (using File/Open or Search). Next time you push Search or select File/Open,
Single File Virus Check will automatically switch to the latest used directory.
- Single File Virus Check now has its own homepage. Visit:
http://www.hamburg.roses.de/~carsten.mueller/software.htm
- A problem was been fixed: Until version 0.9 there were different object types accepted in
program window mode (less object types) and in program object mode (more objects). Now all
the object types will also be supported in program window mode.
- dutch language support (MANY SPECIAL THANKS TO H. OUWENS FOR HIS GREAT WORK)
- Through File/Configure... you're now able to select "message when okay". If this feature
is checked, in program object mode messages will appear when the file or directory is without
any infection. Is this feature unchecked there will be no messages. Only when the object is
infected, messages will appear to warn.
- file check.cfg is changed. It's now called "filecheq.cfg"
There are also some minor fixes and features now in "Single File Virus Check".
