  1. -----------Instructions for Installation: --------------
  2. Make a directory for PMWEATHER on you hard disk.
  3. Copy contents of diskette to your PMWEATHER subdirectory and
  4. UNZIP PMWEATHR.ZIP
  5. (Overwrite the old files so it will updated all code to latest version.)
  6. Execute the INSTALL.CMD command (Unless using 4OS2)

  9. 4OS2 Users may need to create a special batch file like this:

  16. cmd.exe /c detach pmweathr.exe

  24. Many of you may have noticed that PMWeather was broken near end of 
  25. July, 1996.  It was having problems downloading images from the 
  26. internet. This was caused by a change at the internet site providing
  27. the images.  This problem should be resolved for now...I am making
  28. PMWeather as intelligent as possible, hopefully the methods I am 
  29. using will keep the future changes to a minimum.

  31. The alternate weather image provider mentioned in the 1.32 notes has
  32. been reliable during my testing.  This is still not implemented into
  33. PMWEATHER yet.

  35. Merlin Beta has trouble updating the desktop background.  It doesn't
  36. know when I change the contents of the file.  Image viewer still works
  37. fine, I hope the GA version of Merlin will not have this problem with
  38. the desktop background.

  40. PM-WEATHER is NOT certified to run on Object Rexx(OREXX) in the Merlin
  41. Beta.  If OREXX ships in the GA version of Merlin I will work on it then.

  50. The internet is changing quickly!  Version 1.31 broke due to a WWW site
  51. change where PMWeather was getting it's images.  Version 1.32 fixed the
  52. problem for now. Also, please note: The site providing the text forecast
  53. is warning that it may soon close to the public.

  55. Free weather information is getting harder to find, so...
  56.  
  57. I am pursuing subscription service providers as a source for weather
  58. information.
  59.  
  60. To use this kind of service you will be required to subscribe with the 
  61. information provider before this function will work.  (One provider I
  62. checked on is only $5.00/mth and will be able to provide 15 minute 
  63. NEXRAD updates.)
  64.  
  65. Also, I will be adding support for personal links you find on the internet.
  66. If your local TV WeatherMan has a Web page with current weather maps, these
  67. changes will allow you to setup PMWEATHER to list these maps.  Think of it
  68. like setting up quick-links in a Web Browser.

  76. 1. Focus change from text viewer to Image viewer is fixed.
  77. 2. Multiple Image Viewer windows are allowed.
  78. 3. Save Image to File is available, click mouse button 2
  79.     on the image you wish to save.
  80. 4. LOGO screen will automatically dismiss itself in registered
  81.     version.
  82. 5. Help file can be viewed from the Menu.

  84.     to file.  Handles many cities at once, each to it's
  85.     own filename.

  91. Option settings affect all Image Viewers at once, be careful
  92. about running multiple viewers that update the desktop.

  94. Results are unpredictable when two image sessions attempt to 
  95. change the desktop background at the same time.
