  12. ---------------
  13.  
  14. When the application is used with the Fast Movie Machine
  15. card and the Kirchhoff&Grill driver, there is no sound
  16. output from the application.
  17.  
  18. The Ampmix sound control code does not work with
  19. SoundBlaster cards. I believe that is caused by
  20. the SoundBlaster card driver not supporting the
  21. MCI mixer command set.
  22.  
  23. The following two limitations are caused by the
  24. standard Warp 4 "Digitalvideo Media Control Device"
  25. A replacement for this Media Control Device called
  26. "Digital TV" has resolved the problems. Please use
  27. the "Digital TV" MCD rather than the standard IBM
  28. "Digitalvideo"
  29. ------------------------------------------------------
  30.   Occasionally the program will not appear to process
  31.   the event for "TV ON" or "Tuner On" or turn on the
  32.   TV when a preset station is selected. There is a problem
  33.   with the application obtaining a valid instance of
  34.   the TV card driver. When this happens the "turn on"
  35.   action is aborted and nothing happens. The text in the
  36.   button will change to "Try Again". If this occurs
  37.   just press the button again and the TV or Tuner should
  38.   turn on.
  39.  
  40.   If the MCI button is pressed while the TV or the Tuner
  41.   are turned on the number of video in connectors will not be
  42.   reported correctly. This is related to the problem
  43.   with occasional failures to turn on the TV or Tuner
  44.   when the other function is active.

  150. Ampmix device that is connected to the Wincast/TV card
  151. through the default wave stream connection.

  153. There is now a 'check box' for 'Use MasterAudio' just

  155. volume control and 'Mute' button use the Master Audio 
  156. Volume control for setting the volume and muting
  157. the sound output.

  162. "Tuner Off" button is pressed.

  164. The "Channel" control will now allow the entry of the
  165. channel number for the tuner. The channel number is
  166. validated during entry, this prevents the user from entering
  167. a channel number that starts with a digit lower than
  168. the lowest valid channel number unless the field is
  169. "selected" (all digits highlighted).

  171. The "Channel" control would allow the channel selection
  172. to be outside of the range for the selected Region File.
  173. The program now tests for the Region File channel range
  174. for any change in the channel setting.

  209. The "Size" buttons now include an X4 size. With an NTSC
  210. signal the X4 button will provide a 640X480 display
  211. image. This is the maximum image size that can be displayed.

  214. with the WCAST.SYS version 1.030M or later. This version
  215. of the driver also corrects some problems with MCI image
  216. handling that occur with drivers later than version 1.021J.

  228. support has been changed. The code had a bug that would
  229. work with a developer's kit version of mdm.dll but had
  230. problems with the Warp4 release of mdm.dll.

  232. The program would display 'connector type not supported messages'

  236. The program now has a "Tuner" mode. This mode adjusts the
  237. tuning for the card but does not display the monitor window.
  238. This mode is intended to be used with an application that 
  239. displays the video from the capture card but does not
  240. have a method of setting the tuner channel or connector.
  241. An example of this type of application is the VideoIn 
  242. recorder (SWVR.EXE) shipped with the Warp 4 BonusPak.

  244. This mode will NOT work with the MainActor/2 version 2.06
  245. beta. This application acquires the video capture device
  246. in exclusive mode, and no other application can access
  247. the device through the MCI interface.
  248.  
  249. The program now uses a different technique for calculating
  250. the display size for the X1, X2, and X3 display size buttons.
  251. It should maintain the proper aspect ratio.

  256. The Presets window now has a menu "View" that allows
  257. you change the container view to "Column" (the default)
  258. or "Details". The Details view shows all the parameters 
  259. saved for each Preset Channel.

  264. The MultiMedia Setup section is updates with information
  265. on using the VXPVAR command to set the TUNERTYPE. If you

  271. The display of the video image and the output of sound
  272. from the video capture card is now suppressed when the
  273. YADTV/2 TV is turned off. This has been tested with
  274. version 1.020X of the WCAST driver. If you have an
  275. earlier version please download the newer version

  278. NOTE - the version number on the download page is not
  279. always changed when a new driver is available.

  281. NOTE - The default settings from the Multimedia setup
  282. notebook may be set to bring the TV card up in a state
  283. where it is tuned into a channel with the sound turned
  284. on. If you have this problem - change the settings in
  285. the multimedia setup to default to the test pattern.

  287. The program dialog now exits when the TV Off button is
  288. pressed. This change was required to ensure that the 
  289. suppression of the video image display would work.

  291. There is an now an AFC control button. This button turns
  292. the tuner AFC function on and off. The button text changes 
  293. to indicate the state of the AFC control.

  295. There is now a "Save" button. This button saves the current
  296. settings in a data file. When the button is pressed a
  297. dialog is displayed that allows you to view the channel settings
  298. that have been saved.

  300. There is now a "Presets" button. This button displays a
  301. dialog that allows you to view the channel settings that have
  302. been saved. Selecting one of the Settings in the dialog will
  303. set the TV controls to the values for that Setting.

  305. The program now supports saving and selecting of channel
  306. settings. The program records these settings in the file
  307.

  310. The file contains a record for each combination of channel,
  311. connector, and region file name. The fields stored are:

  325. There is no way to remove a record from the file in the program.
  326. You can edit the file with any text editor and remove the lines
  327. you don't want. The file is an ascii text file.

  329. The first record in the file is used as the default setting when
  330. the TV is turned on.

  332. The yadtv2.ini file is saved when the TV is turned off.
  333.  
  334. There is a "Scan" button. This button opens a dialog box
  335. that will do a channel scan. Right now the program does
  336. not save the results of the scan.

  341. on the monitor window.

  343. The MULTIMEDIA SETUP NOTEBOOK section in this readme file
  344. describes the method for aligning the displayed video image

  358. This application uses the Abbotsbury Wincast/TV driver
  359. GRADD direct draw to display the TV picture. You must
  360. have a GRADD video driver installed to use the application.
  361.

  366. Plase refer to the GRADD.DOC file in the driver kit
  367. to set up your installation to use the GRADD direct
  368. draw.

  370. CONFIG.SYS example for GRADD setup (using MGAGRADD)
  371. the VCAFILT entry in the C1 variable is the Wincast/TV
  372. GRADD driver.

  381. There is no installation routine for the application.
  382. Copy YADTV2.EXE to the directory of your choice
  383. and set up a program object if you want.
  384.  
  385. The application was created using the DrDialog software
  386. written by David C Morrill of the IBM T.J. Watson Research
  387. Center. 
  388.  
  389. The application uses the MCI (Media Control Interface) routines
  390. to access the driver and display the picture.
  391.  
  392. OPERATION
  393.  
  394. The application scans the Digitalvideo devices installed
  395. in the system looking for the first device that has TV tuner
  396. support.
  397.  
  398. The tuner region files are loaded from the C:\MMOS2\REGION
  399. directory. The first one in the list is the default. You
  400. will have to select the region each time you run the 
  401. application. If you want a particular region file to be the
  402. first in the list copy it to a.rgn
  403.  
  404. (ie: copy \mmos2\region\usa.rgn \mmos2\region\a.rgn)
  405.  
  406. The default channel setting is obtained from the driver
  407. default settings.
  408.  
  409. MULTIMEDIA SETUP NOTEBOOK
  410.  
  411. The VXPVAR command is used to adjust the variables used
  412. by the WCAST driver. These parameters are stored in the
  413. "WCAST 1.INI" file.
  414.  
  415. ---------------------------------------------------------
  416. NOTE - the following problem was corrected in the
  417. WCAST driver version 1.021R.
  418.  
  419. The driver initialization routine may not set the 
  420. variable TUNERTYPE correctly. The value is set to C6
  421. instead of the value C2. You can use the VXPVAR command
  422. to set the value by typing the command:
  423.  
  424.    VXPVAR WCAST 1 TUNERTYPE C2
  425.  
  426. The program will show the current value and ask if you
  427. want to change it. Answer Yes.
  428.  
  429. When the TUNERTYPE is set incorrectly the application
  430. programs using the driver (this includes the multimedia
  431. setup notebook) will not be able to change channels on
  432. the tuner.
  433.  
  434. NOTE after this command is used the Multimedia setup
  435. program must be executed (it's in the system setup folder)
  436. for the new value to be saved in the "WCAST 1.INI" file.
  437. ------------------------------------------------------------
  438.  
  439. The settings in the multimedia setup notebook will affect
  440. the alignment of the picture in the monitor window.
  441.  
  442. The Align page (3 of 6 with 1.020X) has two sliders for the
  443. Display window position. These should be set to 44
  444. horizontal and 16 vertical. Some video drivers may require
  445. other settings. Experiment with the values until the
  446. display image aligns with the window.
  447.  
  448. When the Multimedia setup notebook and the YADTV application
  449. are running at the same time you will have to press the size
  450. buttons or move the monitor window to force the video display 
  451. to the monitor window.
  452.  
  453. Any tuning changes made in the Multimedia setup notebook are
  454. not reflected in the YADTV application and vice versa.
  455.  
  456. KNOWN RESTRICTIONS
  457.  
  458. The Volume control slider adjusts the master audio level
  459. for all sounds. The current WCAST driver does not support
  460. changes to the sound level of the TV card through the MCI
  461. interface.
  462.
