Tutor/2 Online Tutorial Tool
----------------------------
Thank you for your interest in the Tutor/2 online tutorial
development tool. We welcome your comments; please let us
know if Tutor/2 meets your needs in a tutorial tool and in
what ways it does not. Installation of Tutor/2 is simple.
Follow the three steps listed below.
----------------------------
Steps for Installing Tutor/2
----------------------------
1. Unzip TUTOR2.ZIP
2. Enter INSTALL on the OS/2 Command line.
3. Follow the instructions as prompted on your workstation.
That's it! That's all you have to do to get Tutor/2 installed.
----------------------------------
After the installation is complete
----------------------------------
The installation program places a folder on your desktop with several
objects in it. The following objects should appear in the main folder:
- Demo Tutorial a quick look at what a Tutor/2 tutorial can do.
- Tutor/2 Author a utility for quickly assembling the control file.
- Tutorial Template an editing tool that opens all the source files
for the tutorial template.
- Tutor/2 Online Info the same as the help for Tutor/2 Author.
- Contextual Start an example of how a tutorial can be started from
within an application.
- Container Demo a folder containing objects used to demonstrate
tutorial functions on desktop containers.
To begin using Tutor/2, go through the Demo and Author Tutorials by
double clicking on their respective icons.
To begin using the Tutor/2 Author tool, double click on the icon and
the main window will appear. See Help for guidance and procedures.
If you have problems with the installation or with running Tutor/2
after installation, the rest of the info in this file may help you
discover what went wrong and what you can do about it.
If you want to install Tutor/2 on a workstation that doesn't have
a VM connection, then you will need to copy Tutor/2 onto diskettes.
Here are the instructions to do that:
NOTE: IF YOU ARE INSTALLING OVER A PREVIOUS VERSION OF TUTOR/2:
From the C:\ directory (the root where OS/2 is installed) enter
the following command:
DEL \OS2\SYSTEM\EPFI*.*

WHAT HAPPENS DURING INSTALLATION:
You don't need to perform any of the following tasks yourself, unless
you get in trouble for some reason. Just in case you want to know
what's going on when Tutor/2 installs, we've included this description.
You really don't need to know any of these details if your program
installs successfully.
The installation program that installs Tutor/2
will perform the following tasks.
1. Create a base directory which you specify
(the default is C:\TUT2)
2. Create two subdirectories within the base directory:
--DEMO
--TEMPLATE
3. Unpack the various Tutor/2 files in each of the directories
4. Update the config.sys file by adding the base directory
to three lines: LIBPATH= , PATH= , HELP=
(You have the option to make these changes manually
after the installation is complete.)
5. Create a folder on the OS/2 desktop that contains
the Tutor/2 demo and program files.
