PHONE BOOK SAMPLE VX-REXX PROJECT
=================================
(C)Copyright 1995 Pelt Industries
The enclosed files form a VX-REXX project discussed in detail in the
February issue of INTER REXX, a monthly newsletter for those with an
INTERest in the REXX computer language.
The sample application is a simple telephone book, which records names,
addresses and telephone numbers in a OS/2 container window. The phone
book can be displayed in icon view (icon + name) or detail view (name,
address, telephone). Menu options are available to open and save a
phone book, sort the phone book on any field, dial the telephone number
of a selected entry, popup a notebook to add/update an entry.
This is an excellent introduction to VX-REXX an includes all
source code to:
- display containers
- display notebooks
- handle radiobuttons, text entry fields, and drop-down combo boxes
- issue commands to a modem
- handle direct editing of containers fields
- start and halt multiple threads
- create multi-file and multi-window projects
A complimentary copy of the INTER REXX newsletter that contains the 6 page
in-depth article for this application can be requested by filling out
the questionaire below and Emailing it back to either
CompuServe ID: 72426,31 (Markus Pelt-Layman)
or Internet address: maillist@peltind.com (Pelt Industries)
The article provides an overview of concepts and facilities in VX-REXX
and a detailed explanation of problems and pitfalls encountered while
creating the application.
We have about 80 copies left of the newsletter, they will be mailed
on a first-come first-served basis.
