  2. PHONE BOOK SAMPLE VX-REXX PROJECT

  6. The enclosed files form a VX-REXX project discussed in detail in the
  7. February issue of INTER REXX, a monthly newsletter for those with an
  8. INTERest in the REXX computer language.
  9.  
  10. The sample application is a simple telephone book, which records names,
  11. addresses and telephone numbers in a OS/2 container window.  The phone
  12. book can be displayed in icon view (icon + name) or detail view (name,
  13. address, telephone).  Menu options are available to open and save a
  14. phone book, sort the phone book on any field, dial the telephone number
  15. of a selected entry, popup a notebook to add/update an entry.
  16.  
  17. This is an excellent introduction to VX-REXX an includes all
  18. source code to:
  19. - display containers
  20. - display notebooks
  21. - handle radiobuttons, text entry fields, and drop-down combo boxes
  22. - issue commands to a modem
  23. - handle direct editing of containers fields
  24. - start and halt multiple threads
  25. - create multi-file and multi-window projects
