  1. Additional information on Maul Publisher V1.20 15th March 2000

  4. This version of Maul Publisher is the next major upgrade from V1.1x. In this
  5. release, the frame handler has been re-written.
  6.  
  7. A number of previously unresolved issues have been addressed. In particular,
  8. this version attempts to deal correctly with double byte character sets. It
  9. has unfortunately not been possible to test this properly.
  10.  
  11. Other fixes are hardly visible, but very important. Most dialogs have been
  12. threaded, and a new button type has been developed. This is the first version
  13. where user friendliness has played a role. You can now disable the painting of
  14. various elements of the publication.
  15.  
  16. Border management has been rolled back into the main program, with the result
  17. that colours and text on borders work much more like originally intended.
  18.  
  19. Negociation is under way to try and obtain sophisticated grammar and spell
  20. checking, as well as automatic hyphenation, but this is proving to be
  21. expensive.

  23. Maul will undoubtedly require others to write import and export filters, the
  24. program is too large to manage without this vital help. If you can help, and
  25. want to sell modules for Maul, you are more than welcome.

  32. This update fixes DBCS text. Some other minor fixes have been included:-
  33. Fix to DBCS character keyboard reader.
  34. Fix to 'You really ought save your file now...' message prevents divide by 
  35. zero crashes if you ignore the message too often. 
  36. Fix to reversed border stroking of multi element open figures.
  37. Fix to keyboard cursor movement keys in text and wingstamp handler.
  38. Fix information for all those who have been getting DosLoadModule errors,
  39. install multimedia support!
  40. Added a CMYK colour separation handler.

  47. This update introduces an RTF (rich text format) import module.
  48. To make it easier to import large documents, a method has been introduced
  49. which enables multiple linked documents to be created from the File->new
  50. dialog. Also, some new linkage editing functions have been introduced.
  51. An upgraded colour selection dialog allows the saving and re-using of
  52. colours. Also, spot colour management has been introduced.
  53. A large raft of fixes to the text handler improve and speed up text formatting,
  54. tab formatting, cursor selection, and repainting. Also, a new text drop
  55. shadow mode has been introduced.
  56. Fixes are also to be found for scaling frame clipart, selecting printers,
  57. and more.

  62. Adds metafile handling to the list of object types supported. This standard
  63. format is used for almost all vector based drawing within OS/2. The metafile
  64. handler will process metafile data to implement colour separation.
  65. Fixed a text pasting bug, and the giant text overrun arrow bug.
  66. Fixed a boundary determination error that occasinally caused text to be
  67. placed outside the frame boundary.
  68. Fixed bug that sometimes caused incorrect text style information.
