  21.    CapiTel is a 32-Bit Answering Machine and Caller-ID for OS/2, Windows 95,
  22.    Windows 98 and Windows NT. Graphical and Text-Mode Versions are available
  23.    for all operating systems.

  52.   Installation under OS/2:

  54.    Before you are able to use CapiTel, you have to install the OS/2
  55.    Multimedia Package MMPM/2 and a CAPI 1.1 or CAPI 2.0 compliant
  56.    driver for your ISDN card.
  57.  
  58.    The installation itself is easy. Just unzip the complete distribution
  59.    archive into the desired destination directory and run INSTALL.CMD.
  60.    This REXX script will create a CapiTel object on your Desktop.
  61.  
  62.    If you are going to create CapiTel objects on your own, do not
  63.    forget to set the "Working Directory" !
  64.  
  65.    CAPI 1.1 is unable to handle more than one applications that listen on
  66.    the same EAZ. Therefore: If you use CapiTel, make sure it listens to
  67.    the configured EAZ alone.
  68.    With CAPI 2.0 this is no problem.

  71.   Installation under Win 95/NT:
  72.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  73.    Unzip the distribution archive into a temporary directory and
  74.    start SETUP.EXE, this will install CapiTel on your machine and you
  75.    will find it in the Start-Menu.

  78.   Before you begin:
  79.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  80.    This topic is very important, because many users misconfigure CapiTel
  81.    before they even know that it is working at all. Therefore before you
  82.    begin to play with all the properties, please start CapiTel, leave
  83.    the properties alone and call yourself. If CapiTel works on your
  84.    system, you should see an incoming call from your own number. By
  85.    default it listens to all numbers.
  86.    Feel free to configure CapiTel after this little test has been
  87.    successful.

  89.    If you would like to run CapiTel as a FREEWARE Caller-ID, please set up
  90.    ANSWER DELAY to 999 seconds. Then CapiTel is FREE!

  95.    Use the Properties-Notebook to configure CapiTel.

  98.    General: - Play Ringing-WAV
  99.               If this item is selected, the Ringing-WAV is played on
  100.               your machine if an incoming call is detected.
  101.  
  102.             - Generate 16-Bit .WAV Files
  103.               Mark the checkbox if your soundcard supports this.

  105.             - Restore Window on new Calls
  106.               If an incoming call is detected, the CapiTel window pops
  107.               to the front. Under OS/2, it doesn't steal the focus!

  109.             - Confirm on Call-Deletion
  110.               Mark the checkbox if you want to be asked before
  111.               CapiTel deletes a call.
  112.  
  113.             - Ignore empty Calls
  114.               If you mark this checkbox, all calls with a recording
  115.               time of 0 seconds won't be recognized by CapiTel
  116.  
  117.             - Expand Area-Code
  118.               If a Caller-ID is detected that can't be found in the
  119.               Callers-Database, the name of the caller's city is shown.

  121.             - DTMF Support
  122.               You can completely disable the DTMF Support (Remote Control)
  123.               with this item.

  125.             - Use ulaw-Codec
  126.               This switch is only important to users in the United States
  127.               of America. It will enable the ulaw-Codec instead of the
  128.               alaw-Codec which is used in Europe.

  130.             - Answer Delay
  131.               Specify the default delay (in seconds) before CapiTel
  132.               answers a call.
  133.  
  134.             - Max. Recording Time
  135.               Specify the default maximum recording time (in seconds).
  136.               CapiTel automatically hangs up if a caller speaks and
  137.               exceeds this limit!
  138.  
  139.             - Silence Detection
  140.               Specify the Silence Detection (in seconds).
  141.               CapiTel automaticalls hangs up if a caller stops speaking
  142.               and exceeds this limit!

  144.             - Welcome-WAV
  145.               The default file that is played when CapiTel answers a call.

  147.             - Ringing-WAV
  148.               The default file that is played on your machine when an
  149.               incoming call is detected.

  151.             - Logfile
  152.               CapiTel can log all calls into a log-file. You may also
  153.               specify a Named Pipe or a Device (ie. your printer), if
  154.               your operating system supports this.

  157.    Ports:   To edit, double-click on an entry or use the PopUp-Menu.
  158.             If there is no port listed, CapiTel reacts on ALL available ports!

  160.             Port: A short description for the port.
  161.  
  162.             EAZ/MSN: The EAZ or the MSN for this port. If you are using
  163.                      a CAPI 1.1 driver, fill in an EAZ between 0 and 9
  164.                      here. If you are using CAPI 2.0, supply a complete
  165.                      MSN.

  167.             Welcome WAV/ALW: The WAV or ALW file that is played to the caller.
  168.                              Use * for the default.
  169.  
  170.             Ringing WAV: The WAV that is played on your machine when
  171.                          an incoming call is detected.
  172.                          Use * for the default.

  174.             Reaction: CapiTel is able to reject a call. Here you define how it
  175.                       should behave: 'Normal' for normal behaviour, 'Busy' to
  176.                       simulate a busy line, 'Refuse' to refuse the call, and
  177.                       'Unavailable' to simulate an unavailable service.
  178.                       Important: The reaction you define here is only valid
  179.                       for the ISDN card. If another device (ie. an ISDN
  180.                       telephone) is also listening on the EAZ/MSN, the caller
  181.                       won't get CapiTel's reaction!  There is nothing we can
  182.                       do about this. That's the way ISDN works.

  184.             Answer Delay: The answer delay (in seconds) for the port.
  185.                           Use * for the default.

  194.             container, the caller specific settings are used.

  196.             Name: The caller's name.

  198.             Number: The caller's number which is used when identifying
  199.                     incoming calls. You may use the * wildcard at the end of
  200.                     a number (and only there).. ie. 024192090* matches ALL
  201.                     numbers that start with 024192090.

  206.    Remote Actions:
  207.             To edit, double-click on an entry or use the PopUp-Menu.
  208.  
  209.             DTMF Code: If this DTMF Code is detected, the appropiate
  210.                        Action is started.

  212.             Action: The following actions are available:
  213.  
  214.                     - Remote Control plays all calls that have been
  215.                       recorded. Use the *-Button on your phone to delete
  216.                       them.
  217.                     - Reboot (do not forget that you will get stuck at
  218.                       Win NT's login-prompt when using this feature. You
  219.                       may override the login-prompt using utilities like
  220.                       TweakUI)
  221.                     - Deactivate CapiTel
  222.                     - Quit CapiTel
  223.                     - Execute starts a program on your machine.  You have
  224.                       to fill in the Program, Arguments and Title fields!
  225.                     - Callback. With this DTMF-Code you can define a new
  226.                       callback number. entering no new number disables
  227.                       callback.

  229.             Window Title: This is the window's title of an EXECUTE-Action.

  232.    Use "Save" to save the new settings, or "Cancel" to discard them.

  234.    A note about the Port/Caller specific settings:
  235.    If you specify something for a caller, it takes precedence over the
  236.    settings you might have defined for a Port.

  239.   Usage:
  240.   ~~~~~
  241.    The most important part of the CapiTel main window is the container. There
  242.    you will see all incoming calls. The fields are self explanatory.
  243.    Under OS/2, you may throw colours and fonts into the main window, they
  244.    will be remembered.
  245.  
  246.    If you are using CapiTel with hidden controls, you can access the various
  247.    menu functions with the popup menu you get when you click with your
  248.    right mouse button on the container. Under OS/2, the window can be moved
  249.    by dragging the sizing border with the right mouse button pressed.

  251.    Use the "Record" option to record a new welcome message by calling
  252.    yourself. A dialog will pop up asking you for a filename. WELCOME.ALW is
  253.    the default. You can use the created ALW files in the Port and
  254.    Callers tabs of the Properties-Notebook.

  256.    Of course you can create a .WAV file yourself and use it directly!
  257.  
  258.    If someone calls you and wants to stop the Welcome-WAV, he just
  259.    pushes the #-Button on his phone.

  266.    Almost everything in CapiTel can be configured time-dependent. It can't
  267.    be found in the Properties-Notebook, because we didn't want to confuse
  268.    newbies. Edit CAPITEL.CFG, CAPITEL.PRT, CAPITEL.NAM or CAPITEL.ACT and
  269.    modify the entries as follows:

  271.      entry=<default_value>[~<chunk_1>][~<chunk_2>]...[~<chunk_n>]
  272.  
  273.      chunk_x=<fromday>-<today>,<fromtime-totime>,<value_for_this_chunk>
  274.  
  275.    fromday/today can be one of: Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr, Sa, Su
  276.    Lower Day-Value must be first in the Day-Ranges. ie. Fr-Mo is not allowed!

  278.    fromtime/totime must be xx:yy (xx=hours, yy=minutes) in 24 Hour format.

  280.    CapiTel parses the chunks from left to right and stops after the first hit.
  281.    Time-dependent entries must not exceed 512 characters.
  282.    The default value is used if there is no hit.

  292.    The OS/2 evaluation version expires after 60 days. After this period,
  293.    it _stops_ working and you have to register it if you want to
  294.    further use it.

  296.    The Win 95/NT version does not expire, but it has a 10 second delay
  297.    upon Startup. Also reminding windows pop up after the fifth call,
  298.    and CapiTel automatically deactivates itself after the 12th call.

  300.    Different BEEP-Tones are used by the registered version and the
  301.    evaluation copy. This way we can determine whether someone is using
  302.    an illegal copy or not.

  305.    Each CapiTel license costs 55.00 DM (German Marks). Contact us if you
