  5.  Oberon Software's FSHL Alternative Command Line Executive for OS/2
  6.  Version 1.25 to be released April 3, 1992

  9.  Combined with IBM's powerful new offering, 32-bit OS/2 2.0*,
  10.  this new release of Oberon's venerable product, FSHL, offers
  11.  a number of exciting new capabilities for users who find themselves
  12.  using the OS/2 command line at any time.
  13.  
  14.  FSHL (pronounced "F-Shell") is a long standing, OS/2 based
  15.  product of Oberon Software's, having seen its first release
  16.  under OS/2 Version 1.0.  It is a "CMD.EXE enhancer", that is,
  17.  it replaces CMD.EXE for most functions  and enhances it with an
  18.  extended set of options for creating command aliases, history
  19.  buffer recall and maintenance, and batch file handling, plus it
  20.  greatly extends the list of OS/2's "built-in" commands.

  25.   File name completion on the command line.

  27.   Function key macros.  Can be loaded from file or created "on
  28.   the fly".

  30.   History buffers may be saved to and read from disk at any time.
  31.   The saved history files are flat ascii text and may be edited
  32.   with any text editor.

  34.   More user control over the editing and history function
  35.   keystrokes.

  37.     * Initial insert mode can be set to on or off.
  38.     * Partial command line recall can be accomplished with either
  39.       the standard CONTROL+Arrow keystroke or without the CONTROL
  40.       key at the user's discretion.
  41.     * Both of the above can be set via a switch on the FSHL
  42.       invocation line in config.sys or via an FSHL keyword on the
  43.       command line or .FSH file.
  44.     * Keyboard and environment settings are appropriately
  45.       inherited by recursive and grandchild invocations of FSHL.

  49.     * SAVEHISTORY, RESTOREHISTORY, CTRLSEARCH, FSHLINSERT, PFALIAS
  50.         These all control the features just listed above.
  51.     * PRTY (idle|normal|timecrit|foreground) commandline ...
  52.         Sets the default priority for the task about the be
  53.         executed on the rest of the command line.
  54.     * WINDOW (min|max|restore|size|move|tasklist)
  55.         Control over the VIO window in which FSHL is running for
  56.         those times when you're just too lazy to reach for the
  57.         mouse (or if you'd like to do it from a batch file).
  58.     *INSTALLDLL
  59.         One half of FSHL's powerful and accessible API.  Allows
  60.         third party developers and technically skilled users to
  61.         write their own DLLs and install them into FSHL to
  62.         create new "internal" commands for FSHL.  Example code
  63.         is supplied.

  65.   Published Named Pipe Interface, the "other half" of FSHL's
  66.   API allows programs executed under FSHL to determine that FSHL
  67.   is the parent and, if so, allow commands to be piped back up
  68.   to the parent invocation of FSHL.  This will allow smart directory
  69.   changers, and other programs which need to alter the parent's
  70.   environment to work without resorting to kludges.

  72.   Support for executing DOS and Windows** programs under OS/2 2.0.

  74.   Fully tested under OS/2 2.0.  FSHL will ship with both 16- and
  75.   32-bit executables to accommodate all OS/2 users running either
  76.   version of the operating system.  Registered users of previous
  77.   versions of FSHL will receive automatic upgrades which will be
  78.   shipped by the end of April.
