WarpMedia Technology Preview README
1. Introduction
While not a completed product, this preview demonstrates a number of
the exciting technologies SDG has been working on:
- MPEG-1 video/audio playback.
- DivX video/audio playback.
- Fullscreen video and TV output with SciTech Display Doctor.
- DIVE video output.
- Customizable user interface, including the ability to use Winamp
skins directly.
2. Installation notes
1) Unzip the zip file to a directory of your choice.
2) That's it! Run WarpMedia from that directory!
Note #1: DivX playback requires divxc32.dll from the Windows DivX codec
package. For legal reasons, SDG cannot distribute it together
with WarpMedia.
You can download the DivX codec at:
http://ftp.pcworld.com/pub/video/video_tools/divx_311alpha.zip
Extract the divxc32.dll file and put it in the WarpMedia
directory.
Note #2: In order to get the best possible DIVE performance you can either
install SciTech Display Doctor's GRADD driver, or make sure you
have write-combining to the VRAM enabled. A utility to enable
write-combining can be found at
"http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=p6k7mtrr".
SDD can be found at "http://www.scitechsoft.com/".
3. Installation of the XCenter Widget plugin
Put WMXCW.DLL in your XWorkplace\plugins\xcenter directory and
restart XCenter. The widget requires WarpMedia.exe to be running for
it to actually do something useful.
For more information about XWorkplace and XCenter, go to
http://www.xworkplace.org/
4. Skins
WarpMedia skins are more advanced than Winamp skins. For example,
skins can be transparent or non-rectangular. However, WarpMedia is
also capable of using Winamp skins.
To see some examples on how to create skins for WarpMedia, get this:
ftp://ftp.sdg.os2.nu/pub/warpmedia/wmsdk.zip
Skins can be found at:
ftp://ftp.sdg.os2.nu/pub/warpmedia/skins/

6. The INI file.
The WarpMedia.ini file currently has one section, [MGL_Resolutions].
This section contains the resolutions that WarpMedia will display as
possible MGL fullscreen modes. If you want to use more or fewer
resolutions, then you can add/remove them in this section
(one resolution per line). Note that if you want to use a non-standard
mode, you may first have to add it with "gamode.exe" that is located in
your SDD directory.
7. Restrictions
- SDD beta 39 (a higher version might not work) for fullscreen/TV
output.
- The display adjustment controls do not work with DivX video.
8. Known bugs
Too many to list...
