ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. 5 Nota Musica Sequencer ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Welcome to Nota Musica Sequencer. By buying this program you show that you
are interested in working with and making music.
The OS/2 Presentation Manager Programm Nota Musica Sequencer can be started by
opening the program object Nota Musica Sequencer or by typing notaseq.exe at
the command prompt. Nota Musica Sequencer accepts two parameters: Using
-i<Ini-File> you can specify which Ini-file Nota Musica Sequencer should use;
-r<Resource-Dll> lets you choose a resource file for individual language
support. By specifiying the parameter -s, you can instruct Nota Musica
Sequencer to automatically save the MIDI-file upon program termination.
In the first two lines of the window there are entry fields for the composer
and the title of the MIDI-file. Below, you'll see buttons to play, rewind,
and record. In case you play a MIDI Type 2 file with multiple movements, you
can choose which movement to play using the two leftmost buttons.
If you don't hear any music while playing the MIDI-file and the time position
doesn't change you should reinitialize the sequencer.
In case you want to record from your keyboard, the MIDI files has to be of
either type 0 or type 2. To record into a MIDI type 1 file, you need to
convert the file to type 0 first.
The duration of the piece is shown above the buttons. While you play a piece,
you will also see, how much of the piece has already been played.
You can handle the buttons mentioned above also using your voice directly
Using the Nota Musica VoiceType support you only need to say e.g. Record to
start recording like mentioned in VoiceType Commands.
Currently, the RealTime MIDI interface doas not support System Exclusive
Messages. Because of this, these messages will not be send to the MIDI-device
by Nota Musica Sequencer.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8. 6 Handling of MIDI-Files ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The menu item File contains commands to handle MIDI-files.
Nota Musica Sequencer supports MIDI files of type 0, 1, and 2. In a MIDI type
0 file, the entire piece is stored in one track. In a MIDI type 1 file, one
or more voices are stored per track. For type 2, every track contains one or
more movements of a piece.

The WAV-import is intended to convert notes played by an accustic instrument
in a MIDI-file, to edit these files e.g. with Nota Musica. To make use of
this opportunity you have to record your music using an audio-tool of your
choice and a good micro. By doing this you have to record in mono a onevoice
instrument e.g. a flute. You also have to guarantee a good quality of the
audio-file, not disturbed by other sound sources..
Now you can choose the menuitem Import WAV-file. First you have to determine
the WAV-file to import. After this you'll see a dialogbox. In this box you
can choose a silence factor that means you have to specify the limit between a
rest and a normal note. A good value might be 300. In the next fields you
quote the number of quarter notes per minute and the shortest note you played.
The last two lines you have to specify are the lowest and the highest notes
you played. You also should write instead a note with a sharp a note with a
flat e.g. you write a f# instead of a gb.
To earn the best results you have to try serveral times different values for
the WAV-import. You should repeatedly notice the silence factor.
