ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Files that make up CD in a Box ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This program contains 5 files. They are:
CDinaBox.hlp
This is the help file for the program.
CDinaBox.EXE
This is the actual program file. Copy this file to a directory of your
choice and create a program object in the desired location from the
program object in the Templates folder. No command line Parameters are
required.
CDinaBox.INI
This file holds information on the current settings for the program. If
you wish to revert to the default settings then just delete this file.
If any settings are changed then it is recreated.
CDBox.DAT
This file contains data about each CD that you have entered. It must be
in the same directory as CDinaBox.EXE or the program will not find it.
CDBoxOut.CMD
This file can be used to remove CD in a Box from your system. It will
also remove the entry from the OS2.INI file.
CDBoxcvt.exe ( use CDBoxcvt.exe /? for instructions )
This program will convert a CDinaBox.dat file to CDBox.dat file that is
used from version 1.4 upwards. After the conversion it can be deleted if
required but it may be a good idea to keep the CDinaBox.old file as a
backup. ( It is a copy of your old CDinaBox.dat file )
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Keyboard Control of Player ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. Features ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.1. Custom CDs ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can add tracks to a CD to create a Custom CD if you wish. If you select
the Options->Add Track selection on the main pop-up menu a new track is added
to the end of the Disc. You can then give it a name and track status as for a
normal track. You then use direct editing on the Start Position and Track
Length fields in Details View to set what the new track will play. If the
program does not understand or does not accept the information you enter then
the existing data will be restored.
This may be useful if you have CDs with only 1 track but many songs as now you
can create a track for each song and make the original track horrible then
hide horrible and be left with the tracks you created. Also if you do not like
the start of a song you can create a track and set the start position to the
part of the song you like and adjust the track length so it ends at the
correct time and you have a Custom Track.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.2. Hold Mode ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Hold Mode allows you to remove the current Disc from the CD-ROM Drive but
still keep all the selections you have made. If you are playing songs from a
music Disc and you want to copy a file from a data CD-ROM then you can
Activate Hold Mode, remove the music Disc then insert the data Disc and copy
the files you want then, reinsert the music Disc and Release Hold Mode and the
program will start playing from the same place it stopped.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.3. Play Options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The following play options are available from either Play From Start or Play
From Highlighted menu options. You can press mouse button 1 over any track and
use Play From Highlighted to start from that track. If Quick Sample is active
(Clock button down on Control Panel or Menu item checked) then only the first
few seconds of each track will play.
Play All Tracks
This will play all tracks.
Play Ordinary and Favorite Tracks
This will play any Ordinary or Favorite track until the end of the CD.
Play Favorite Tracks
This will play Favorite tracks only.
Play Ordinary Tracks
This will play Ordinary tracks only.
Play Horrible Tracks
This will play Horrible tracks only if you really want to play them.
Play Personal Selections
This option will appear if you have stored a personal selection for this
Disc and will play the tracks in the order you stored them.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.4. Program Selections ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can store up to 4 different programs for each Disc. Click Here to see how
to add a program to a Disc.
Also see Change Play order by Drag and Drop
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.5. Change Play Order by Drag and Drop ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can change the order the tracks on a Disc are played by dragging a track
from its current position and dropping it on another track or between tracks.
The program will save the new order in the data file so the next time you play
that disc but you can use the "Options->Restore Play Order" menu option if you
want to revert to the standard play order. Note that you can not use drag and
drop when in the Icon view.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.6. Track Status ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can change the status of any track at any time to Favorite, Ordinary or
Horrible, depending on what you think of it. You can then use the play options
to play only the track you want. To change the status of a track use the Track
Popup Menu. Click here to see how to start playing different track types.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.7. Track Playing Selection ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
If you wish to play a selection of tracks in a particular order then double
click on the track Icons with mouse button 1 in the order you want to play
them. The Icon for the track will change to the selected track Icon to show
that track is part of a playing selection. Click here for information on how to
Release Track Selection. When you have made a selection you can store the
track selections in the dat file and play the same selections again. Also see
Change Play order by Drag and Drop
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.8. CD Player Views ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Different views are available for the CD Player. You can see either Icon,
Detail, Name or Text Views.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.9. Control Panels ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7.3. Mode Page ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Play Mode
This is not complete yet. When in play mode you will not be able to edit
track play times or change play order but this will allow the program to
control the playing of the CD better so it does not overrun the end of a
track under heavy system loads.
Safe Mode
When this option is checked the program will not read a new disc in the
CD-Rom drive until the user selects the menu option "Read Disc in Drive".
Normally this program checks every second to see if a new Disc has been
inserted in the drive but if the device driver is reading the disc at the
same time as this program asks if a disc is present then the whole system
stops until the device driver has completed reading the disc. If you
happen to be downloading a file when you put a new disc in then you may
have had Comm Errors. Note - Auto Play will not work if this is checked
until the user selects the menu option to "Read Disc in Drive".

The default Icons suppiled with the program can be changed to any other Icon
from an "*.ICO" file. All you have to do is press the Find button and search
for the file you want or drag the ".ICO" file to the CDinaBox window and drop
it. The Options Notebook will appear and allow you to select which Icon you
would like to change. You can see what Icons are currently associated with
which track status by selecting the Options/Settings... item from the Popup

how to solve a few common problems.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12.1. Unable to attach to CD Device ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This message will appear if the program is not able to attach to the CD-Rom
drive in your system.
The most common reason for this is that you have added or removed a hard drive
letter since MMPM was installed. The multimedia system does not see this and it
will still look for your CD-Rom using the old drive letter.
To correct the problem open the Multimedia Folder on your Desktop and then open
the Multimedia Setup Object and select the Compact Disc page ( see below if you
do not have this page ) and select the Drive Letter Tab at the bottom and
correct the drive letter shown.
If you do not have a Compact Disc page then you will have to install CD Audio
support from the disks you installed OS/2. Refer to the OS/2 Manuals for
information.
If this does not fix the problem then sent me an email message with the
Ref-???? number from the message and I will have a look at what the error means
and how we can fix it.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12.2. Change a Track or Disc Title ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use standard OS/2 methods of direct editing to change the name of a track or
of the CD Title. Hold down the ALT key and press mouse button 1 (usually the
left button) on any title to change its name.
You can also change the Title from the General page of either the Disc or Track
Properties Notebook.
Select Save Changes from the main pop-up menu to save changes to file. Changes
are always saved when the program is closed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12.3. Add a Program to a Disc. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
To add a progam to a Disc.
Select the tracks you want to play by using the Select Track option on
the Track pop-up menu.
Select the Store Program Selection option on the main pop-up menu.
