  1. IBM Bamba OS/2 Player (Alpha Version .01)

  3. I. License Agreement
  4.  
  5.   Please read this IBM Alphaworks license agreement (called the "Agreement")
  6.   carefully. Your use of the software or any related documentation (called
  7.   the "Software") indicates your acceptance of the following terms and conditions.
  8.   If you do not agree to these terms and conditions, you may not install or use
  9.   the Software.
  10.  
  11.   Notice: The Software that is made available through the alphaWorks project is
  12.   not generally available software. It has not undergone complete testing and
  13.   may contain errors. It may not function properly and is subject to change or
  14.   withdrawal at any time. No support or maintenance is provided with the
  15.   Software. Do not install this software if you are not accustomed to using
  16.   experimental software.

  18.   The alphaWorks Software is made available without charge in the experimental
  19.   stage in order to allow you to evaluate the Software in its developmental
  20.   stage. We encourage your feedback and suggestions.

  22.   1. Ownership and License.

  24.   The Software is owned by International Business Machines Corporation or one
  25.   of its subsidiaries ("IBM") and is copyrighted and licensed, not sold.
  26.  
  27.   IBM grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download the
  28.   Software and use it only for your personal, non-commercial and lawful end use.
  29.   Implied licenses are negated.
  30.  
  31.   You may copy the Software for backup only. You may not:
  32.      1) merge, distribute (for free or for sale) or sublicense the Software
  33.      2) reverse assemble, reverse compile, or otherwise translate the Software.

  35.   2. Term and Termination

  37.   This Agreement will terminate ninety (90) days after the date on which you
  38.   receive the Software. Upon such termination you will delete or destroy all
  39.   copies of the Software.

  41.   3. Warranty Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
  42.  
  43.   IBM licenses the Software to you on an "as is" basis, without warranty of
  44.   any kind.
  45.  
  46.   IBM hereby expressly disclaims all warranties or conditions, either express or
  47.   implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties or conditions of
  48.   merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. You are solely
  49.   responsible for d etermining the appropriateness of using this Software and
  50.   assume all risks associated with the use of this Software, including but not
  51.   limited to the risks of program errors, damage to or loss of data, programs or
  52.   equipment, and unavailability or interrup tion of operations. Some
  53.   jurisdictions do not allow for the exclusion or limitation of implied
  54.   warranties, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.

  56.   IBM will not be liable for any direct damages or for any special, incidental,
  57.   or indirect damages or for any economic consequential damages (including lost
  58.   profits or savings), even if IBM has been advised of the possibility of such
  59.   damages. IBM will not be liable for the loss of, or damage to, your records or
  60.   data, or any damages claimed by you based on a third party claim. Some
  61.   jurisdictions do not allow for the exclusion or limitation of incidental or
  62.   consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to
  63.   you.

  65.   4. License Rights

  67.   You hereby grant to IBM an irrevocable license under all intellectual property
  68.   rights (including copyright) to use, copy, distribute, sublicense, display,
  69.   perform and prepare derivative works based upon any feedback, including
  70.   materials, fixes, error corrections, enhancements, suggestions and the like
  71.   that you provide to IBM.

  73.   5. General

  75.   This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York.
  76.  
  77.   This Agreement is the only understanding and agreement we have regarding your
  78.   use of the Software. It supersedes all other communications, understandings or
  79.   agreements we may have had prior to this Agreement.

  84. II. PreRequisites:
  85.  
  86.   1. OS/2 Version 4.0 (Merlin)
  87.   2. Netscape for OS/2 Version 2.02 GA

  90. III. Instructions:
  91.   1. Move H263.dll, G723.dll, and CPPOM30.dll to a location in your libpath.
  92.      (ie. \MMOS2\DLL)
  93.   2. Move NPBAMBA.DLL to your Netscape plugin directory (ie. \NETSCAPE\PLUGINS).
  94.   3. Stop and Restart Netscape

  97. IV. Restrictions:
  98.   1. From the "System" icon on your OS/2 desktop, set your screen
  99.      resolution to greater than 256 color depth. Running at 256 color
  100.      depth or less will result in poor video quality.

  102. V. Problem Determination
  103.   1. If you get a popup complaining about the capabilities of your audio
  104.      device, it may be that your audio card doesn't support the
  105.      sample rate or size used by bamba. If you want to verify the
  106.      capabilities of your audio card DAUDIO.EXE and DAUDIO.WAV are
  107.      provided. Copy both of these files to the same directory and
  108.      execute DAUDIO. If this fails your audio card will not support Bamba
  109.      under OS/2.
