  120.    1. ╨⌐ffnen sie Multimedia Installation aus dem Multimedia Ordner auf ihrer 
  121.       Arbeitsoberfl╨öche. Falls sie Multimedia noch nicht installiert haben 
  122.       benutzen sie "Installation Anpassen" aus dem Ordner Systemkonfiguration, 
  123.       um Multimedia, wie in der Dokumentation zu OS/2 warp beschrieben, zu 
  124.       installieren.

  126.    2. Wechseln sie In Multimedia Installation in das Verzeichnis indem sie die 
  127.       AnPoCODEC Dateien plaziert haben. Wenn sie in das Verzeichnis gewechselt 
  128.       haben erscheinen AnPoCODEC Symbole, die schon fertig zur Installation 
  129.       markiert sind.

  131.    3. Dr╨æcken sie auf den Knopf Installieren.

  133.  Alternativ kann man auf der Kommandozeile in das Verzeichnis wechseln, in dem 
  134.  die AnPoCODEC Dateien vorliegen, MINSTALL.EXE ausf╨æhren und bei Punkt 2

  162. Um AnPoCODEC zu benutzen starten sie einfach ihren lieblings OS/2 Videospieler 
  163. und ╨ñffnen sie einen AVI Film. OS/2 warp hat drei Videospieler im Lieferumfang:

  165.      MPPM.EXE wird durch das Digital-Video-Spieler Symbol im Multimedia Ordner 
  166.       gestartet. 
  167.  
  168.      VB.EXE ist ein Teil der Multimedia Viewers aus dem Bonus Pack. 
  169.  
  170.      SWVR.EXE ist ein Teil von VideoIN aus dem Bonus Pack. 
  171.  
  172.  Folgende Tips erleichtern die Arbeit mit AnPoCODEC im World-Wide-Web: 
  173.  
  174.      Web Explorer benutzt standartm╨ö╤üig VB.EXE um Filme abzuspielen.  Leider 
  175.       bietet VB.EXE jedoch keine M╨ñglichkeit geladene Filme zu speichern, 
  176.       deshalb empfehlen ich MPPM.EXE oder SWVR.EXE um Videos abzuspielen. 
  177.       SWVR.EXE hat die M╨ñglichkeit geladene Filme Abzuspeichern (Save As...). 
  178.       Die Warnmeldung die SWVR.EXE ausgibt falls keine Videocapture Karte in 
  179.       ihrem System installiert ist kann man ignorieren, sie besagt nur, da╤ü man 
  180.       eben keine Capturekarte hat.

  194.    1. Es existiert ein einziges AVI Format das man unter OS/2 nicht abspielen 
  195.       kann: Indeo 4.1. Die Lizenz f╨ær dieses Format an Intel kostet 5000$. Ich 
  196.       habe IBM angeboten einen CODEC daf╨ær zu schreiben, dies ist nun einige 
  197.       Monate her, sie h╨ötten von mir umsonst einen CODEC bekommen! ..bis heute 
  198.       keine Antwort.

  200.    2. Der Fehler ung╨æltige Pufferl╨önge ist ein Fehler des MMPM/2 der warp 3 und 
  201.       kann mit dem AVI File Utility aus dem VideoIn des BonusPack durch einen 
  202.       einfachen Split und anschlie╤üendem Merge umgangen werden. 
  203.  
  204.    3. Bei 8bit Video1 und RLE werden momentan keine Paletten╨önderungen 
  205.       unterst╨ætzt. Das liegt daran, da╤ü der zugeh╨ñrige Datenblock im AVI vom 
  206.       MMPM/2 der OS/2 warp 3 einfach ignoriert wird. 
  207.  
  208.    4. Wenn eine ATI Grafikkarte mit einem MACH64 im Rechner sitzt, kann der 
  209.       Mauszeiger verschwinden, wenn er ╨æber das Filmfenster gef╨æhrt wird. Dies 
  210.       ist ein Fehler in den ATI Treibern. Es gibt neuere Treiber, bei denen 
  211.       dieser Fehler nicht mehr auftritt -> ATI anrufen und Treiber zuschicken 
  212.       lassen.

  214.    5. Non-Interleaved AVIs k╨ñnnen derzeit vom MMPM/2 nicht verwaltet werden. 
  215.       Ein Laden dieser AVIs kann bis zu Situationen f╨æhren, in denen die 
  216.       Tastatur h╨öngt und nur noch der Affengriff (Strg+Alt+Entf) hilft.

  223. Wenn der Sound oder das Bild ruckelt oder z╨öh l╨öuft:

  225.      1. Regel bei diesem Problem (g╨æltig f╨ær alle Soundkarten insb. 
  226.       SoundBlaster): Neuen Soundtreiber besorgen! 
  227.  
  228.       Die Reduzierung der Gr╨ñ╤üe der Puffer ihrer Soundkarte sollte eine 
  229.       dramatische Verbesserung der Lage bringen.  Am Beispiel von SoundBlaster 
  230.       Karten:

  240.       Multitasking besser geeignet, da sie schneller verarbeitet werden k╨ñnnen 
  241.       und auf diese Weise das System "fl╨æssiger" machen.

  243.       F╨ær andere Soundkarten als die Soundblasterserie gibt es in 99% der F╨ölle 
  244.       neuere, teilweise qualitativ sehr hochstehende Treiber, bei denen diese 
  245.       Art von Einstellungen nicht notwendig ist. Diese neuen Treiber liegen 
  246.       aber nicht warp 3 bei, sondern man mu╤ü sie sich selbst besorgen. Z. B. in 
  247.       Mailboxen wie der Odysseus BBS,  bei "Device Driver Pack online" 
  248.       http://service.software.ibm.com/os2ddpak/index.htm. oder im "Device 
  249.       Driver Repository" 
  250.       http://www.europe.ibm.com/getdoc/psmemea/progserv/device/.

  252.       Ein einfacher Workaround f╨ær schlechte Soundtreiber ist bei einigen AVIs 
  253.       w╨öhrend dem Abspielen 2x schnell hintereinander den Pauseknopf zu 
  254.       dr╨æcken.  Wenn es nicht gleich gelingt, nochmal probieren.

  256.      Wenn sie mehr als 8MB Arbeitsspeicher in ihrem Rechner haben, k╨ñnnen sie 
  257.       ihr Multimedia System etwas tunen indem sie die folgenden Zeilen zu ihrer 
  258.       CONFIG.SYS hinzuf╨ægen:

  269.      Eine Grafikkkarte benutzen die EnDIVE unterst╨ætzt. EnDIVE hilft dem CODEC 
  270.       beim dekodieren, entlastet das Bussystem des Computers und erh╨ñht die 
  271.       Bildqualit╨öt bei vergr╨ñ╤üerten Videofenstern (Interpolation). ELSA und 
  272.       Matrox sind momentan die einzigsten Hersteller die EnDIVE unterst╨ætzen 
  273.       (14.12.1996). ELSA unterst╨ætzt EnDIVE schon seit langer Zeit von Haus 
  274.       aus, bei Matrox mu╤ü man sich einen neuen Treiber besorgen (Versionsnummer 
  275.       >= 2.0).

  277.      Um die Geschwindikeit ihrer Grafikkarte zu erh╨ñhen k╨ñnnen sie eine der 
  278.       f╨ær ihre Grafikkarte zutreffende Zeile ausprobieren. Wenn das Video Bild 
  279.       anschlie╤üend nur schwarz ist, l╨ñschen sie die Zeile wieder aus ihrer 
  280.       CONFIG.SYS.

  425. AnPoCODEC is a collection of video (AVI) CODECs (COmpressor DECompressor) for

  427. CODECs in this package: AnPoMSVC for Video1 8bit and 16bit, (VfW 1.0), AnPoCVID 
  428. for Cinepak (VfW 1.1), Cinepak 8bit (Win95) and AnPoRLE for RLE (VfW 1.0)

  497.       folder.  If you do not have a multimedia folder, you may need to use 
  498.       Selective Install to install OS/2 Multimedia.

  501.       to change the source directory to the directory containing the AnPoCODEC 
  502.       files.  the AnPoCODEC  icons should appear, selected for installation by 
  503.       default.

  538. To use AnPoCODEC, simply run your favorite movie OS/2 Multimedia movie player 
  539. application and open a AVI.  OS/2 Warp has three movie player applications to 
  540. choose from:

  542.      MPPM.EXE is run by the Digital Video icon in your multimedia folder. 
  543.  
  544.      VB.EXE is part of the Multimedia Viewer in the Warp 3 Bonus Pack and is 
  545.       part of warp 4 multimedia. 
  546.  
  547.      SWVR.EXE is part of the Video IN product in the Warp Bonus Pack. 
  548.  
  549.  You will probably want to watch AVI movies that you download from the world 
  550.  wide web. There are a few things you should know about this: 
  551.  
  552.      If you are using Netscape/2 take a look in the System settings folder, 
  553.       There is an object for you called "Multimedia Internet Manager". 
  554.  
  555.      Web Explorer is set to use VB to view AVIs.  This has never worked 
  556.       because, before AnPoCODEC came along, OS/2 Multimedia could not play 
  557.       Windows AVI files.  The good news is that AnPoCODEC actually makes this 
  558.       work. However, VB does not allow you to save downloaded movies.  A 
  559.       workaround is to turn on "Save to Disk Mode" before clicking on a movie 
  560.       link.

  562.      I recommend using MPPM or SWVR, rather than VB. SWVR has a Save As... 
  563.       feature that allows you to save downloaded movies.  If you do not have a 
  564.       video capture card, SWVR will display a message, which you can ignore.

  578.    1. There is still one AVI format which can't be played: Indeo 4.1. Lincense 
  579.       to Intel cost 5000$, so ask IBM about it. Or send me a check about this 
  580.       sum :). I asked IBM for financial support on this some months ago.. i 
  581.       will programm a codec for them for free! ...no response... 
  582.  
  583.    2. Some AVIs are playing slow, jerky, by fits and starts or sound is behind 
  584.       image. This problem is a result of bad sound drivers not being able to 
  585.       report theire status fast enough to the system. A phonecall to the 
  586.       manufacturer of your soundcard often does wonders. 
  587.  
  588.       For Soundblaster cards, a package with updated versions of the drivers 
  589.       provided with OS/2 are available. This fixes the problems with SB16 and 
  590.       AWE32 cards. Creative Labs has stoped development for theire 8bit cards. 
  591.       If you want to change this tell them this! The package should be 
  592.       available on any decent BBS or at my web page. 
  593.  
  594.       Another way to get around the problem is to enlarge the interleave ratio 
  595.       of the AVI file.  To do this load AVI File Utility (part of VideoIn in 
  596.       Bonuspak) and increase the interleave ratio. 
  597.  
  598.       A further trick on some AVIs is to press the pause button of the Video 
  599.       player twice quick. Try it again if it does not work the first time. 
  600.  
  601.    3. The error message wrong buffer length is a bug from MMPM/2. 
  602.  
  603.    4. The pallette change of 8bit Video 1 and RLE does not work.  This is 
  604.       because MMPM/2 is simply ignoring the datablock containing the palette 
  605.       information. 
  606.  
  607.    5. On ATIs with a MACH64 the mousecursor disappears  if you move it over the 
  608.       AVI window.  This is a bug in the ATI driver, a new driver is available 
  609.       from ATI. 
  610.  
  611.    6. At the moment it is not possible to play noninterleaved AVIs with MMPM/2. 
  612.       In most cases MMPM/2 just hangs the whole system! You can interleave them 
  613.       with the AVI File Utility.

  622.      Reducing the size of your soundcard's buffer may produce a dramatic 
  623.      improvement.  For soundblasters, try using

  631.      statement in your CONFIG.SYS, where "..." is your multimedia directory and

  633.      buffers are better for multitasking because the sound playback won't 
  634.      interfere with reading and displaying the movie.

  636.      Try to get new sounddriver on: "Device Driver Pack online" 
  637.      http://service.software.ibm.com/os2ddpak/index.htm. or "Device Driver 
  638.      Repository" http://www.europe.ibm.com/getdoc/psmemea/progserv/device/.

  640.      If you have more than 8MB of memory, you might also want to tune the 
  641.      multimedia subsystem to take advantage of it.  Try adding the following to 
  642.      your CONFIG.SYS:

  644.       SET MMBUF=49152
  645.       REM This increases the size of the read buffer.  The default is 32768.
  646.       REM It can be set even higher, but movies will take longer to load.
  647.  
  648.       SET MMSTREAM=/H:256
  649.       REM This increases the heap space for the stream manager to 256K, which
  650.       REM allows more movies to be open at once and may improve performance.
  651.       REM The default is 64K, and 256K is the maximum.

  653.  If you are experiencing dropped frames, you may be able to improve the 
  654.  performance of your video display subsystem by moving the video aperture.  Try 
  655.  adding one of the following lines to your CONFIG.SYS (select the line
