  5. This is the first release of TafelEd/2. It is still a work in progress hence
  6. the beta. However this release can perform all the major functions I intended
  7. this application to perform.

  9. TafelEd/2 is a Tiny Tafel editor, with facilities to match your TT against
  10. others that you can get from sources such as FIDONet's GENDATA message area.

  12. Tiny Tafels (TT) are a method used by Genealogists to display details of
  13. surnames that they have in their family database. They display the earliest
  14. and latest known date and location of each surname. They also display how to
  15. contact the owner of the Tiny Tafel. You can use programs, such as TafelEd/2,
  16. to edit your own TT, and also to search through other TTs to find a match. A
  17. match is a common surname in both yours and another TT. You can narrow down 
  18. this match using the dates. If the surname from the other TT has dates that
  19. fall within your dates, for the same surname, then it is more likely to be a
  20. match.

  22. Once you have a likely match you can contact the other owner by mail, phone or 
  23. email and find out if they have information you want.

  34. Run INSTALL.CMD, this will ask for the directory to install TafelEd/2, copy the
  35. files to that directory, and create an object on the Desktop.
