ver. 2.1 ( 32 bit )
Note : Double click on the READHELP.CMD file to read the complete PadHD
help file if desired.
/***************************** INSTALLATION *****************************/
PADHD has no installation program. It consists of six (6) files - PADHD.EXE,
PADHD.HLP, READHELP.CMD, WHATS.NEW, BMTFRM.DOC and ORDER.FRM. After you
unzip it, copy PADHD.EXE and PADHD.HLP to a utilities directory or where ever you
want them to reside. The file ORDER.FRM is an order form to register PADHD and can
be easily printed to make registering an easy and almost painless chore. The BMTFRM.DOC
is an order form to register PadhD through BMT Micro. READHELP.CMD is an OS/2
command file to read the PadHD help file. It is included to let the user read the help
file without having to install or run PadHD. Just double-click on the icon for
READHELP.CMD and the PAHD.HLP file will be opened to read in .INF form. It is not
necessary to keep this file for the regular operation of the PadHD program. The file
WHATS.NEW is an ASCII text file that summarizes the new features/changes.
Migrate PADHD to the desk top or use a program template to put an icon on the
desktop for it. Or you could run it from the command line to test it. Whatever serves
your purpose. The first time you run it you will be prompted to give a name for a data
file and to set the fixed length record size for that file. After you have set that and
pressed the OK button the data file will be added to the Global Search list box.
Press OK again to save the changes and start the program. After you run it the first
time it will create your data file and two other files in the directory where it resides.
PADHD.INI is an initiation data file that holds settings and screen coordinates.
PADHD.DAT is a data file that stores the name of the data files on your search list.
You can run multiple copies of PADHD on your system. They should be located in
different directories or drives. Every copy will run off of its own INI and DAT files.
/************************* NEW STUFF ver. 2.1 ***************************/
NEW REDUCED PRICE! Now only $24.95
What's new with PadHD
VER. 2.1 fixes and additions
1. Now PadHD will prompt you when starting it for the first time (AND if you have
NOT had any PADHD.DAT file created yet) to set the default file extention for
ALL data files. A default file extention must have a period followed by 3
characters, eg. .PDF, .ZS$, .$$$, etc. The default file extention can ALSO be changed
later by selecting "Set default file extention" under the Options menu item on the
main screen.
2. A new icon for PadHD! While not a major thing, some users have noted a dislike
for the previous icon. So .....
3. "Select All" feature added to the popup for the text area in Edit/View/Search/Add
screens. This allows highlighting of all the text in a record with one click.
4. "Undo" added to popup for the text area in the Edit/Add screens. This is a simple
one item undo feature in case you delete or change something you change your mind about.
5. "Save ALL records in data module to file" feature added to popup for the main screen
list box. This allows saving ALL the records to a single ASCII file -- which then can
be used for printing and other concerns.
6. "Save All" button added to accumulative search results screen. The Save All button
allows saving all the record that were found to a single ASCII file.
7. 'Number of records found' added to the titlebar of the accumulative search results screen.
8. Popup menus for Edit/View/Search/Add screens will now activate over the rest of the
screen (not just over the entry field area) - except over controls.
Additional Notes
As always I appreciate and encourage everyone to let me know if you find any bugs,
design flaws, or just plain iritating things that you discover. Good suggestions from users
make for a better program. HINT! HINT! Please Note my new e-mail address.
