Description
-----------
If you happen to work with stone age Operating Systems such as MVS you may
find yourself running around trying to find a calendar that still has
the day of the year printed on it (sometimes incorrectly refered to as
the Julian date). Having no such calendar available, I wrote this Freeware
OS/2 PM utility that will convert a Gregorian to a Julian date and vice
versa. The utility handles from the year 1753 to the point that we'll all
be dust and correctly accounts for leap years. It should function under
OS/2 2.x and Warp and has been tested using OS/2 2.11 and Warp.
Installation
------------
Simply unzip the DAYOYEAR.EXE and DAYOYEAR.HLP files into the same
directory or install DAYOYEAR.EXE into a directory that appears in the
PATH statement of the CONFIG.SYS file and install DAYOYEAR.HLP into a
directory appearing in the HELP statement.
You can create an icon for the program by opening the Templates folder
of the OS/2 System icon and dragging a program icon to the Desktop or
a folder of your choice. Enter the full drive, path, and filename of the
DAYOYEAR.EXE file on the "Program" page of the notebook that will appear
and edit the title on the "General" page of the same notebook.
Operation
---------
Just enter the four digit year in the YYYY box and either the Julian
date in the DDD box or Gregorian date in the MM and DD boxes and press
the "Convert" button. If you are converting a Gregorian date to a Julian
date, make sure the Julian box is empty.
The boxes and buttons can be selected using the mouse or the "Tab" key
and the cursor will auto-tab to the next field if the field is filled
completely (for instance; entering 02 for the month).
The legal stuff
---------------
BECAUSE THE PROGRAM IS LICENSED FREE OF CHARGE, THERE IS NO WARRANTY
FOR THE PROGRAM, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. EXCEPT
WHEN OTHERWISE STATED IN WRITING THE COPYRIGHT HOLDERS AND/OR OTHER
PARTIES PROVIDE THE PROGRAM "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND,
EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE
IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE
PROGRAM IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE PROGRAM PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME
THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION.
Known Bugs
----------
None so far; but this is version 1.0 ;-) If any are found and reported,
they will be fixed when time is available (like everyone else, I still
have to work).
Peace and enjoy,
Bob Ross
