  7. ActionItem was done because I just needed a simple program to help me 
  8. keep track of things I needed to get done at work and at home.  There's
  9. nothing great and innovative about the app.  It was written to satisfy my
  10. needs only.  However I'm very open to including new features.
  11.  
  12. Basically you enter in what you need to get done.  You also enter in a 
  13. description, the date you recevied the action item, and when it's due.
  14. Your entries are saved in an ascii file.  You may print one entry or
  15. all entries.  You can also view them by their title line only.  This helps
  16. you do a quick scan of everything.

  18. There's a checkbox titled 'Completed'.  Check this once the action item
  19. has been completed.  Under the 'Extras' menu there is a 'Options' choice.
  20. There you can choose whether you want ActionItem to delete a action item
  21. upon completion, or store it in an archive file, or both!  I did this so I can
  22. always go back and see what I did several months ago if need be.

  24. You can select different filenames for the archive file, so you can have
  25. one for October and another for November etc.

  27. Another strength of ActionItem is that you can have as many files as you
  28. want.  You can have a Personal file, a business file, or you can have a
  29. file for every project you're involved in.

  31. Like most hacks, I hate to document.  However I promise that I'll do either
  32. an INF or HLP file for this eventually.  I will also complete an intelligent
  33. search piece that not only finds what you want but also identifies possible
  34. relationships to other tasks.  A buddy of mine who is really into artificial
  35. intelligence made me start that piece!

  40. to get something working quickly!

  63. Required files:  Action.exe  Optn.dat

  65. 1. Select 'File' then 'New' from the menu bar.
  66. 2. Enter a file name.  You must have an extension of .idx
  67. 3. Enter a short description for the file.  I think you get about 40 characters.
  68. 4. Enter the action item, description, date in, and date due.
  69. 5. If you want to add another, click on the Add icon. (3rd from the left)
  70.       go to step 4
  71. 6. If you're done click on the Save New Add icon. (3rd from the right)
  72. 7. If you have more than one entry you can use the Next and Previous buttons.
  73. 8. Save your file!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
