ver 1.1 Jan/Feb, 1991
Presentation Manager Calendar/Clock and File Datestamp Application
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Major changes in version 1.1 *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The current date is highlighted and can be configured to the foreground and
background color of your choice.
Based on user suggestions, the major change is the ability to set several
alarms. There is an option to enable an alarm to sound on the hour. Another
alarm can be set for either a specific time (hour/minute) or an amount of time
(in hours/minutes) measured from the current time. A "snooze" alarm may
optionally be set to sound after the regular alarm sounds. The length of time
(minutes) between the regular alarm and snooze alarm can be chosen as well as
the number of times the snooze will repeat.
The "chime" (sound) of the hourly, regular, and snooze alarms can be configured
to your preference.
The date, time, current calendar shown, next holiday and number of shopping days
till Christmas information can be copied to the Presentation Manager clipboard.

CALENDAR
PMCALEND's main function is to display monthly calendars for years that
can range from 1800 to 2050.
The following keys can be used to change the calendar display:
KEY Displays
CTRL+N - Next month of the same year
CTRL+P - Previous month of the same year
CTRL+Y - Next year, does not change month
CTRL+V - Previous year, does not change month
CTRL+R - Calendar for current system date
Other keys not relating to changing current calendar:
CTRL+C - Configuration options
CTRL+D - Datestamp a file
CTRL+B - About PMCALEND
CTRL+X - Exit
Added in version 1.1
CTRL+A - Configure alarms
CTRL+S - Shows current alarms settings
CTRL+L - Copies current screen to clipboard
HOLIDAYS
PMCALEND also displays the next holiday and the number of shopping days
left until Christmas (the current day is counted, however, you really
should be out shopping now for it to count!). The next holiday and
number of days till Christmas are always based on the current system
date.
Holidays included:
New Year's Day Valentine's Day St. Patrick's Day
Memorial Day 4th of July Labor Day
Halloween Thanksgiving Christmas
Your own birthday can be added under the configuration option, and if it
falls between the current system date and the next holiday, "Your
birthday" will be the next holiday.
CONFIGURATION
Configurable options include screen foreground and background colors, font
size, and window position and size. Your favorite options can be saved and
used as the default when PMCALEND is run. PMCALEND is probably most useful
when sized to show only the calendar portion...the "shopping days till
Christmas" was implemented especially for someone I work with.
Added in version 1.1:
The ability to set forground and background colors for the current date.
DATESTAMP
PMCALEND will datestamp a file with whatever date and time you select
(between years 1980-2000). A file can even be datestamped with 00/00/00
(may be useful for testing some of your own programs).
HPFS long file names are recognized.
File information shown includes the current date and time stamp, the
numeric value of the file's attribute, the file size, the amount of disk
space actually allocated to the file, and the percent of wasted space
(slack). The 'Creation' and 'Last Access' dates and times will only be
valued for disks formatted with HPFS.
ALARMS
New with version 1.1 is the ability to set various alarms.
ALARM TYPE
'Hour/minute from present time' sets the alarm to the number of hours
plus the number of minutes plus the current time. For example, if hours
is 2 and minutes is 10 and current time is 9:00am, the alarm is set for
11:10am.
'At hour/min indicated' sets the alarm to the specific hour and minute.
For example, if hour selected is 20 and minute selected is 45, the alarm
is set for 8:45 pm. The values in the scroll boxes correspond to time
in a 24-hour format.
Alarms can be set without being enabled. The alarm must be enabled for
it to sound.
SNOOZE
The first listbox sets the number of minutes which will elapse between the
alarm and the snooze alarm. The second listbox sets the number of times the
snooze alarm will sound. For example, if the regular alarm is set for
10:00am, and the snooze is set for 5 minutes, repeat 3 times, the regular
alarm will sound at 10:00am, the first snooze at 10:05, the second snooze at
10:10, and the last snooze at 10:15.
Setting the snooze minutes to 0 will disable the snooze alarm.
PREVIEW ALARM
Displays the time the alarm would be set for if the screen settings
were used. It does not alter the values set for the current alarms. The
time displayed is in 12-hour (am/pm) format.
SHOW SET ALARMS
Displays the time the alarm is set for and whether or not it is enabled,
the setting for the snooze alarm and the number of times it will repeat,
and whether or not the hourly alarm is enabled.
CHOOSE ALARM CHIME
Brings up a dialog box which allows you to configure how the hourly
alarm, regular alarm and snooze alarm will sound. There are 10 possible
tones that can be set for either "low", "medium", or "high" pitched
sounds. The listbox is used to indicate the number of tones to include
in the chime (ordered from top to bottom). 'Save values to disk' saves
the settings for all alarm types.
REVISION HISTORY & REGISTRATION
ver 1.1 Jan, 1991
ver 1.0 Oct/Nov, 1990
PMCALEND was developed and tested under OS/2 1.2 and briefly tested under
version 1.3. I would be most greatful for any comments, suggestions, and/or
bug reports.
If you use PMCALEND, please send a small donation of $10.00 so that I
can prove to my husband that all the long hours I spend with my PC
instead of with him are really worth something. Thank you.
