  6. BioGraph is the ultimate biorhythm program for OS/2 Warp. It provides you with 
  7. much more functionality than most competing products: BioGraph knows about the 
  8. widely unknown intuitional cycle and it can compute biorhythmic pair matching. 
  9.  
  10. BioGraph is a real 32bit application for OS/2 Warp that uses many of the 
  11. advanced features of OS/2 and the Presentation Manager. BioGraph was developed 
  12. in PASCAL using SpeedSoft's SpeedPascal/2 Compiler. 
  13.  
  14. To be able to use BioGraph, you merely need OS/2 Warp and a mouse or a 
  15. compatible pointing device. The program should even run under OS/2 2.1 with no 
  16. problem.

  31. Before you start BioGraph, please take a few minutes to read the following 
  32. paragraphs about this program. If you do not agree with these terms, you must 
  33. delete the software from your harddisk. Starting the program for the first 
  34. time, you accept the following terms.

  39. The test version of BioGraph, i.e. the one with the reminder screen, may be 
  40. used for a maximum trial period of 30 days. After this time you have to either 
  41. order the full version of the software or delete the program from your 
  42. harddisk.

  44. Upon ordering the full version, you will receive a version of the software 
  45. without the reminder screen that is not crippled in any way. You may install 
  46. and use this full version on one computer at any one time. Before you install 
  47. it on another machine, you must first delete the previous installation. 
  48. Distribution of the full version or using the test version for a longer time 
  49. than 30 days is a violation of international law.

  51. The software BioGraph is protected by international law. Changing the software 
  52. or included data or reverse engineering the software are strictly prohibited.

  97. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3.1. General Information ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  99. From the day of birth until death, a human's life is influenced by "biological 
  100. clocks". There are cycles with short period, like the day/night cycle, and 
  101. longer period cycles, such as the cycles that are widely known as biorhythms. 
  102.  
  103. Biorhythms can influence many aspects in one's life: 
  104.  
  105.      Why are you feeling good or bad for no apparent reason ? 
  106.      Why are you more successful on difficult tasks on certain days ? 
  107.      Why are you feeling tired, despite a good sleep at night ? 
  108.      Why can you sometimes tell what is going to happen ? 
  109.      Why is one's reaction to similar events so different on different days ? 
  110.  
  111.  These and similar questions can sometimes be easily answered - with a look at 
  112.  your biorhythms. Knowing your biorhythms can support you in planning of 
  113.  important events, you can try to avoid problems and anger, or at least you can 
  114.  be prepared for any situation that might arise. 
  115.  
  116.  Some years ago, biorhythm was considered as something esoteric. Modern 
  117.  sciences have proven that biorhythms actually exist and influence the life of 
  118.  every human being. But it's different with every individual, what the 
  119.  biorhythms cause in detail. While one person might sense the ups and downs of 
  120.  the biological clocks on a higher level, another person could seem completely 
  121.  disconnected from biorhythms. So whether you can take advantage of your 
  122.  biorhythms depends on your observation of how much your state of health, mind 
  123.  etc. matches the corresponding biorhythm.

  126. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3.2. The Four Biorhythms ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  127.  
  128. When we talk of "biorhythms", this usually refers to the three most important 
  129. cycles: The physical cycle of 23 days, the emotional cycle of 28 days, and the 
  130. intellectual cycle of 33 days. Less widely known is the existence of the 
  131. intuitional cycle of 38 days. 
  132.  
  133. The four biorhythms take a start on the day of birth and move upwards from a 
  134. zero line until they reach their highest point, return to the zero line and in 
  135. the same way cross the negative region below the zero line. This repeats over 
  136. and over again. 
  137.  
  138. When one of the biorhythms os located in the positive or "active" region, this 
  139. means positive influence on the corresponding part of the human being. 
  140. Accordingly, values in the negative or "passive" range mean negative influence. 
  141. When a biorhythm changes from positive to negative or vice versa, i.e. it 
  142. "changes phases", this is called a "critical phase". Such a critical phase can 
  143. cause unreliability and heavy change in the corresponding properties. 
  144.  
  145. In practice, if for example your intellectual cycle is in its passive phase, 
  146. you'll have difficulties concentrating, whereas with a positive intellectual 
  147. cycle, your mental abilities should be on their top. 
  148.  
  149. However, it's not that easy. Apart from the individually different degree of 
  150. influence, the combination of positive, negative and critical cycles can cause 
  151. individually different effects. So it's up to you to find out how your feelings 
  152. etc. are influenced by different constellations of the biorhythms. 
  153.  
  154. The combination of the four biorhythm values is unique each day throughout your 
  155. life. The second time that all four cycles cross the zero line again comes 
  156. about 200 years after your birth. If you wanted to live to see the four cycles 
  157. starting the same way as on the day of your birth, you had to live for more 
  158. than 2000 years.

  181. Just like you, your partner is also influenced by biorhythms. So knowing your 
  182. partner's biorhythms can give you hints for better understanding. Another 
  183. possibility regarding the biorhythm's influence on partnership is pair 
  184. matching, which calculates the matching of each biorhythm cycle. 
  185.  
  186. Imagine you having a very positive emotional biorhythm while your partner's 
  187. emotional cycle is at its lowest point. In this case we would talk about a 
  188. difference of half a wavelength, a matching of 0 per cent. 
  189.  
  190. The other extreme would be a biorhythm of exact same phase for both partners. 
  191. Highs and lows will then appear at the same time, the matching is 100 per cent. 
  192.  
  193. The actual degree you and your partner are influenced by the matching of your 
  194. biorhythms depends, again, on individual aspects of both human beings. But it 
  195. is always a good idea to know about biorhythmic matching.

  198. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Using the Software ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  201. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.1. Installation ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  203. You can use the install program INSTALL.CMD to install BioGraph on your 
  204. computer. The install program will copy all necessary files onto your harddisk 
  205. and a program object will be created on your desktop. 
  206.  
  207. If you want to deinstall the software, just delete all files and the program 
  208. directory plus the corresponding objects on your desktop. BioGraph will not put 
  209. any files outside its own directory and no system files will be changed. 
  210.

  212. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.2. Upgrading Previous Versions of BioGraph ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  213.  
  214. Tu upgrade a previous version of BioGraph you just need to install the new 
  215. version of the software. No settings will be lost (except which chart had been 
  216. displayed when you closed BioGraph) and there will be no old files left. Only 
  217. some entries in the BIO.INI file will remain unused, occupying a few bytes on 
  218. your harddisk (512 bytes on HPFS, 1 cluster on FAT). To save that diskspace, 
  219. simply delete BIO.INI.

  222. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.3. Functions ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  223.  
  224. The BioGraph main window consists of the toolbar and the biorhythm display. The 
  225. toolbar contains buttons that activate all functions of the software. To learn 
  226. about the use of the buttons, just move the mouse pointer onto one of the 
  227. buttons. The status line at the bottom of the main window will then show you a 
  228. short description of the button's purpose. 
  229.  
  230. One day in the biorhythm display is marked by continuous lines left and right. 
  231. This is the day shown in the interpretation window. You can choose a different 
  232. day by simply klicking on the day in the biorhythm display with the left mouse 
  233. button.

  235.  
  236. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.3.1. People ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  237.  
  238. Press this button to see the "People" dialog. This is where you can enter name 
  239. and date of birth for calculating biorhythms. 
  240.  
  241. Persons whose data are needed frequently can be added to the list of names by 
  242. pressing the "Add" button. You can then select the name from the list instead 
  243. of entering name and date of birth. If you want to remove a name from the list, 
  244. just select the name and press the "Delete" button. 
  245.  
  246. Press the "Ok" button to close the dialog. This requires a valid date entry, 
  247. otherwise you must use the "Cancel" button to close the window. 
  248.  
  249. The number of entries in the names list is limited to a maximum of 16384. In 
  250. the test version a maximum of four names can be entered. 
  251.  
  252. BioGraph can display multiple biorhythm charts at a time, thus making it 
  253. possible to compare the biorhythmic situations of persons at any given day. To 
  254. add a biorhythm chart to the display, select the "Add to display" checkbox 
  255. before you push the "OK" button to close the dialog box. If the checkbox is not 
  256. marked, all charts previously displayed are discarded and a single chart for 
  257. the newly selected person is generated.

  260. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.3.2. View ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  261.  
  262. The "View" dialog controls the appearance of the biorhythm display. By the 
  263. check boxes on the left you decide which of the four biorhythms will be 
  264. displayed. Below the check boxes you'll find a scoll bar to adjust the number 
  265. of days displayed. This number can range from one week up to three months. 
  266.  
  267. The date entry fields on the right provide a means to directly jump to a 
  268. specific date. Either enter a date or mark the "Today" check box which will 
  269. show today's biorhythm. 
  270.  
  271. The "Black/White" check box switches from colored display to monochrome 
  272. display, e.g. if you are using BioGraph on a laptop.

  274. Press the "Ok" button to make your changes take effect. All changes will be 
  275. saved and restored when you start the program the next time, so all settings 
  276. have to be changed only once.

  281. Pair matching calculates the degree of biorhythmic matching of two persons. 
  282. Similar to the "People" dialog, you can select names from a list or manually 
  283. enter names and dates of birth. Then press the "Ok" button to see the pair 
  284. matching chart. 
  285.  
  286. There is another possibility to find out about the matching of two or more 
  287. persons' biorhythms. This functionality is described in the chapter about the 
  288. main window popup menu.

  293. This button switches the legend window on and off. The legend window tells you 
  294. which color represents which biorhythm.

  299. This button switches the interpretation window on and off. The interpretation 
  300. window provides information on the meaning of the constellation of the 
  301. biorhythms.

  306. Use this dialog to select your preferred language for display, dialogs and 
  307. error messages. The change will immediately take effect and your selection will 
  308. be saved at program exit. For each language a DLL file is required. The name of 
  309. the file is the name of the language, such as ENGLISH.DLL, DEUTSCH.DLL and so 
  310. on. 
  311.  
  312. The "Language" button in the toolbar always shows the national flag of the 
  313. country whose national language was active when the program was started. So 
  314. when you change the language, the flag on the button will remain the same until 
  315. the program is restarted. 
  316.  
  317. Please note that some language modules may be missing in the  BioGraph package. 
  318. If you require a language which is not part of the archive, please send a note 
  319. to the author of the software. Additional language modules can also be 
  320. downloaded from the internet at

  330. Pressing this button starts the printout process. A dialog box will appear 
  331. showing a list of the installed printer objects. Select the desired printer and 
  332. press "OK". A double click on one of the printers listed will open the job 
  333. properties dialog, which enables you to e.g. change the output format to 
  334. landscape. The same function can be reached using the "Settings" button after 
  335. the desired printer has been selected in the list box.

  337. The program automatically adjusts to the printer capabilities, e.g. color 
  338. printing.

  341. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.3.8. Chosen Day/Display Range ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  343. These four buttons change the day that is marked in the biorhythm display and 
  344. the range of days that is displayed. 
  345.  
  346. A buttons with a single arrow make movements of one day, the buttons with a 
  347. double arrow cause movements of a quarter of the displayed range. The buttons 
  348. with the arrow to the left move the displayed part of the calendar to the left, 
  349. i.e. new days are inserted on the left side, days will disappear on the right 
  350. side. The relative position of the selected (marked) day will remain the same 
  351. on these actions.

  354. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.3.9. Exit ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  356. Press this button to exit the program. All settings (language, displayed 
  357. cycles, range etc.) will be saved automatically, including the window sizes and 
  358. positions. 
  359.  
  360. At the next start of the program, you will find the program in the state you 
  361. left it, displaying the same cycles for the same person. Only the starting date 
  362. and the chosen day are adjusted to the current date.

  367. Pressing this button displays information about the program and its author. The 
  368. information window will automatically disappear after 6 seconds.

  373. When you click the right mouse button on the display area, a context menu 
  374. appears providing entries for "Add", "Delete" and "Interpretation". This menu 
  375. is a means to display two or more persons' biorhythms at the same time. 
  376.

  379. When you select the "Add" menu entry, the "People" dialog comes up. After 
  380. entering a person's date of birth and pressing the "OK" button, another set of 
  381. biorhythm curves is added to the display window. The new set is inserted below 
  382. the set that has been clicked to see the popup menu. You can open up to 9 such 
  383. sets of biorhythm curves. 
  384.  
  385. Please note that selecting a person via the "People" button on the top left of 
  386. the main window will delete all displayed biorhythm curves. Only the biorhythms 
  387. of the selected person will be displayed. 
  388.  
  389. When the mouse pointer is moved over the display area, the status line at the 
  390. lower end of the main window shows the name of the person corresponding to the 
  391. display area where the mouse pointer is located. Another hint is given in the 
  392. main window's title bar, where the names of the displayed persons are given in 
  393. the same order as the biorhythm displays are put from the top down.

  397. To remove a set of biorhythm curves from the display window, click the right 
  398. mouse button on the area you want to delete and select the "Delete" entry in 
  399. the context menu.

  401. Interpretation 
  402.  
  403. The "Interpretation" window always contains the explanation for the biorhythm 
  404. values of one single person; the name of that person is displayed right next to 
  405. the display date. To choose a different person for the "Interpretation" window, 
  406. click the right mouse button on the area that corresponds to that person and
