  11. DESCRIPTION
  12.  
  13. When the system is started with archiving turned on, it locks up or 
  14. stops.
  15.  
  16. RESOLUTION
  17.  
  18. Turn archiving off:
  19.  
  20. 1. Turn on the system. If it is already on, perform a shutdown and then
  21.    press Ctrl+Alt+Del.
  22.  
  23. 2. When the small white box appears in the upper-left corner, press
  24.    Alt+F1.
  25.  
  26. 3. At the Recovery Choices screen, select C.
  27.  
  28. 4. At the command prompt, type the following, pressing Enter after
  29.    each:

  31.       CD OS2\BOOT
  32.       ATTRIB -R ARCHBASE.$$$
  33.       DEL ARCHBASE.$$$
  34.  
  35. 5. Restart the system.
  36.  
  37. Note: Do not press Alt+F1 this time. Let the system start as usual.
  38.       This also resets the location of the archive directory to the
  39.       default of OS2\ARCHIVES.
