01/25/96
=======================================================================
Setting Up the Mach 64 to Run in OS/2 Warp
=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
--------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
1. If the Mach 64 card was not set up before you installed OS/2 Warp,
select VGA as the primary display during installation. When you
start the system in VGA, follow the General Setup procedures.
2. If the Mach 64 card replaces a previously installed card in a
system, return the system to VGA (640x480x16 using the VGA drivers,
not the 640x480x256 SVGA driver) before placing the Mach 64 card in
the system. Restart the system, and follow the General Setup
procedures
3. If the Mach 64 card was set up before you installed OS/2 Warp for
the system/monitor, you should not need to set up the card. If you
do have problems, follow the General Setup procedure.
4. If you are replacing the monitor:
a. Select the 640x480x256 resolution from the System icon.
b. Shut down and turn off the system.
c. Replace the monitor; then restart the system.
d. Follow the General Setup procedure, but skip the step to install
video drivers. Instead remake the SVGADATA.PMI file, as described
under "Capturing the Display Configuration" in the User's Guide
to OS/2 Warp.
RESOLUTION
Video Cards with the Mach 64 Chip Set (Available as of 10/25/94)
----------------------------------------------------------------
* ATI Graphics Pro Turbo
* ATI Graphics Xpression
* ATI WinTurbo (VRAM Based Pro Turbo)
* ATI WinBoost (DRAM Based Xpression)
Set up the ATI Mach 64 Graphics Adapter to run with SVGA Mach 64
drivers provided for OS/2 Warp:
1. Start a DOS Full Screen session. Use a DOS startable diskette if
there are no memory-management programs.
2. Insert the ATI Installation Diskette in drive A.
3. Type A: Install and press Enter.
4. Highlight Quick Setup on the main menu and press Enter.
READ THE WARNING. Be sure not to set up the monitor beyond its
capability. Check the monitor documentation for more information.
The ATI manual describes Custom Setup in the "Hardware
Installation/Quick Setup/Custom..." section. If you are not
sure what needs to be done, refer to the documentation.
Note: All resolutions, except Other..., are supported with
the Mach 64 drivers that come with IBM OS/2 Warp.
5. Select the system's monitor or a compatible one. If there is no
compatible monitor, select Custom:
* 640x480 (needs to be 60 Hz or IBM Default)
* 800x600
* 1024x768
* 1280x1024
6. Select the refresh rate and press Enter. See the monitor
specifications for the vertical refresh rates.
7. Press Esc; then select Y.
8. Press F10 to save the changes; the monitor flickers while the EPROM
is being programmed.
9. Press Esc until you exit the program.
10. Shut down and turn off the system; then restart it.
For more specific information, see the ATI documentation or call ATI.
