=======================================================================
Display Install Detects an "Invalid Hardware Configuration" with the
MACH64CT
=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
--------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
Because of differences in the hardware architecture, the MACH64 driver
will not install with the MACH64CT chipset. The MACH64CT chipset no
longer uses an EPROM (electrically programmable read only memory) and
has an integrated DAC (Digital to Analog Converter). This chipset is
likely be detected by DSPINSTL as the ATI28800.
This chipset is found in IBM Aptivas and new adapters from ATI designed
for MACH64.
Running SVGA STATUS in a DOS Full Screen session identifies this chip
as the MACH64CT.
RESOLUTION
For SVGA support using drivers provided in the OS/2 Warp 4 package, use
the drivers provided by ATI called M64OS2.ZIP on the DDPak CD-ROM that
ships with OS/2 Warp 4. These drivers are written and supported by ATI.
To install, unzip the M64OS2.ZIP file to a diskette. Refer to the
README.1ST file provided for instructions on how to run the
OS2SETUP.CMD program to install the drivers. During the installation,
you are asked if you want to replace a file called DSPRES.DLL; answer no.
If you answer yes, DSPRES.DLL will be backleveled and cause font
problems.
If you require further assistance with this driver, contact ATI
technical support at (905) 882-2626.
For ATI's latest MACH64 driver, connect to WWW.ATITECH.CA or their BBS
at (905)764-9404.
