OSVICPDP - BLACK AND WHITE DISPLAY WITH COMPAQ DESKPRO XE560
12/18/96
=======================================================================
Black and White Display with Compaq Deskpro XE560
=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
--------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
A Compaq Deskpro XE560 displays only in black and white when running
OS/2 Warp; even the Boot Manager and OS/2 Logo screens display in black
and white. Other operating systems display in color and do not exhibit
this symptom. Running under OS/2 Warp, reinstalling video drivers may
temporarily alleviate the problem, but soon thereafter, the system
locks up and when restarted, it displays in black and white. This
happens regardless of video driver loaded, VGA or SVGA.
RESOLUTION
For a Compaq Deskpro XE560 with an AT&T RAMDAC (random access memory
and digital to analog converter), this is a known hardware problem.
Contact Compaq to request SoftPaq 1624 and re-flash the ROM.
For a Compaq Deskpro XE560 with a BT RAMDAC, this may be a new problem.
Contact Compaq for assistance.
Compaq Technical Support can be reached at (800) 652-6672.
