OSOTCMSY - CM/2 V1.11 SYS3175 WHEN STARTING 3270 SESSION ON OS/2 WARP 4

=======================================================================
CM/2 v1.11 SYS3175 when Starting 3270 Session on OS/2 Warp 4
=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
--------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
A SYS3175 in REMMAIN.EXE access violation occurs when starting a
Communications Manager/2 version 1.11 3270 session. Another error,
CMR0268 - an OS/2 function call caused an unexpected return code,
sometimes appears within the next few minutes.
RESOLUTION
This problem is related to Communications Manager/2 APAR JR08501. It is
resolved by applying the fix for that APAR (Authorized Program Analysis
Report):
1. The fix is currently available on the CM/2 BBS at 919-543-8200.
2. Once connected, logon with any ID and password (this is a public
BBS).
3. Once logged on, type SERV and press Enter; this takes you into the
service area of the BBS.
4. Choose option #2; Download APAR.
5. When prompted, enter APAR number JR08501.
6. Follow the instructions downloaded with the APAR to apply the fix.
There is also a workaround for this problem:
1. From an OS/2 command prompt, type:
COPY X:\CONFIG.SYS X:\CONFIG.OLD, then press Enter.
TEDIT X:\CONFIG.SYS, then press Enter.
(where X: is the drive on which OS/2 is installed).
2. Find the PATH= statement; and remove any nonessential path
directories until the path is less than 512 characters in length.
3. Press F4 to save and exit the file.
4. Shutdown and restart the system for the changes to take effect.
Note: This is a risky workaround; removing certain directories
from the PATH statement may cause some software applications
to not function properly.
