Using an External Keyboard on an IBM Laptop--All OS/2 Releases
=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedure
-------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
An external keyboard is not being recognized on an IBM laptop.
RESOLUTION
To use an external keyboard on an IBM laptop computer, you need an extra
cable, called a "Y" cable. The keyboard will not be recognized without
this cable. The "Y" cable is inserted in the mouse port of the system,
and the mouse and external keyboard cables are inserted in the two ends
of the cable.
The part number for this cable is listed in the hardware documentation
that came with the system. If you cannot find the part number, contact
the vendor.
If a replicator is connected to the back of the laptop, you can plug the
external keyboard directly into the replicator's keyboard port, which is
the first round port on the left when looking at the back of the system.
You do not need a "Y" cable when using the replicator.
