  11. DESCRIPTION

  13. An external keyboard is not being recognized on an IBM laptop.
  14.  
  15. RESOLUTION
  16.  
  17. To use an external keyboard on an IBM laptop computer, you need an extra
  18. cable, called a "Y" cable.  The keyboard will not be recognized without 
  19. this cable. The "Y" cable is inserted in the mouse port of the system, 
  20. and the mouse and external keyboard cables are inserted in the two ends 
  21. of the cable.

  23. The part number for this cable is listed in the hardware documentation 
  24. that came with the system. If you cannot find the part number, contact 
  25. the vendor.

  27. If a replicator is connected to the back of the laptop, you can plug the
  28. external keyboard directly into the replicator's keyboard port, which is
  29. the first round port on the left when looking at the back of the system.
  30. You do not need a "Y" cable when using the replicator.
