  11. DESCRIPTION

  13. When you type INSTALL from diskette or CD-ROM, or use the BPIU 
  14. interface, after a few seconds, the window returns to the prompt, or 
  15. the BPIU interface returns to the main menu, and no message is 
  16. displayed.

  18. RESOLUTION
  19.  
  20. 1. At the command prompt, type E CONFIG.SYS and press Enter.
  21.  
  22. 2. Look for the statement, SET REMOTE_INSTALL_STATE=0. If the statement
  23.    is present, change it to:
  24.  
  25.       REM SET REMOTE_INSTALL_STATE=0
  26.  
  27. 3. Save and exit the file; then restart the system.
  28.  
  29. The IBM Works software installer fails because this statement sets a 
  30. flag for the software installer to read a response file that IBM Works 
  31. does not supply.
