  13. DESCRIPTION
  14.  
  15. Various error messages are received when installing OS/2 Warp, OS/2 Warp
  16. Connect, or OS/2 Fullpack on a Dell Pentium computer with a Hitachi 
  17. CD-ROM drive. Two of the errors are:
  18.  
  19. * SYSINST2.EXE failed to return the target drive - pszseg = NULL 
  20. * OSO001.msg file not found for message SYS3175
  21.  
  22. The problem occurs between the first Welcome screen and the 
  23. Easy/Advanced screen while using Diskette 1. The problem is caused by a
  24. timing error between the BIOS on the Dell computer and the Hitachi 
  25. CD-ROM drive.

  27. RESOLUTION
  28.  
  29. You need to download "IDE Extender for OS/2 and IDE Controller" from 
  30. Hitachi.
  31.  
  32. Note: The following procedure MUST be performed before installation.
  33.  
  34. 1. Dial the Hitachi BBS (619-661-0245) and download either:
  35.  
  36.    * HITX8.EXE (self-extracting) or
  37.    * HITX8.ZIP (must be unzipped)
  38.  
  39. 2. Read READX8.DOC for instructions.
  40.  
  41. If you are installing OS/2 Warp Connect with WIN-OS/2 (red box), you 
  42. also need to download ATAPI.ZIP from the IBM BBS:
  43.  
  44. 1. Dial the IBM BBS (919-517-0001).
  45. 2. At the Welcome Screen/Main Menu:
  46.  
  47.    a. Type D for download.
  48.    b. Type ATAPI.ZIP.
  49.    c. Select a protocol.
  50.  
  51. 3. Select Autologoff to disconnect after the transfer.
  52. 4. Unzip ATAPI.ZIP; then follow the instructions in the README file.
