DESCRIPTION
When installing OS/2 Warp from CD-ROM, the following error message
appears after the Updating System Configuration screen (x can be any
value):
***************** SYS3175 32-bit *****************
A program generated an access violation at 17xx1401
OS2MM.DLL 0001:000x1401
CS:EIP=005B:17xx1401
***************** SYS3175 32-bit End *************
When the starting the system with a CD-ROM, the following message
appears (x can be any value):
***************** SYS3175 32-bit *****************
A program generated an access violation at 17xx1404
OS2MM.DLL 0001:000x1404.
CS:EIP=005B:17xx1404
***************** SYS3175 32-bit End *************
RESOLUTION
Notes:
* Make sure you have a backup of any file you intend to change.
* The CS:EIP parameter MUST end with 1401 or 1404 for the following
procedure to resolve the problem. Make sure this requirement is met
before continuing the procedure.
In the OS2MM.DLL file, the NEC CD-ROM definition line has a double
quotation mark. The double quotation mark also might be in the
definition line for other CD-ROM models.
1. Edit the CONFIG.SYS and remark-out (REM) the CD-ROM support
statements.
2. Save and exit the file; then restart the system.
3. Continue the installation.
If you need CD-ROM support after completing installation, edit the
CONFIG.SYS file again and remove the remarked-out CD-ROM statements;
then restart the system.
