  13. DESCRIPTION
  14.  
  15. When installing OS/2 2.1 or OS/2 2.11 on systems with hard disks 
  16. greater that 1 GB, an FDISK error is received or you cannot start from 
  17. installation diskettes.
  18.  
  19. RESOLUTION
  20.  
  21. OS/2 does not support startable partitions greater than 1024 cylinders. 
  22. This is a hardware limitation and is true of DOS and OS/2, whether a 
  23. high performance file system (HPFS) or a file allocation table (FAT) 
  24. file system.

  26. Define the startup-partition size to be within the first 1024 cylinders:

  28. 1. Check the documentation for the hard disk and see how many MB are in
  29.    the first 1024 cylinders.
  30.  
  31. 2. Make sure that any startable partition is created at the beginning
  32.    of free space and is within the size limitation.
