10/15/96
=======================================================================
Unable to Recognize 4.5 G Hard Disk Connected to an Adaptec 2940
Controller
=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
--------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
OS/2 FDISK is unable to recognize a 4.5 G hard disk attached to an
Adaptec 2940 controller, when using the AIC7870.ADD driver. With
IBMINT13.I13, the hard disk is recognized, but other devices are not.
RESOLUTION
Using the SCSI Device Configuration Utility that ships with the
controller, set the INITIATE SYNC NEGOTIATION to NO and the WIDE
NEGOTIATION to NO for the 4.5 G drive.
Note: This is a hardware configuration problem. For further assistance,
contact your hardware vendor.
