If using WARP, RMVIEW is very helpful to eliminate base memory
location and IRQ conflicts.

3044 error.  Make sure they're using a Dataglance version of the TR
card.

Error 3044 or 3002 with Thinkpad 750CS.  Make sure they're not using
interupt 10--same as used by audio ckts.

For thinkpad 350 with Ethernet:  Try IRQ5, 9, 10, 14.  IOBase=240.
IRQ=3 doesn't work.

Nothing happening with TR ISA.  Ensure switch settings on card do not
conflict with RAM address range in config.sys.  Or just keep trying
different switch settings.

SYS 1201 errors with ISA Ethernet.  Make sure adapter config is shared
memory not IOPORT.

Single frame transmit will not work.  Try:  to DLC address:  Broadcast
TR, size:  200, Delay:  100 mSec, First 256 bytes all zeros.  Neither
of 2 bottom boxes checked.

DG with Port Replicator.  Set Slot=ANY.

3002 error.  Try a re-install esp if 1st install questionable esp wrt
device driver selected.

2000 errors on 750C.  Update PCMCIA drivers.

For 2 slot Laptops, LAPS adapter in TOP Slot.  DG=IRQ3.

To determine if CC adapter has DG ucode.  Run diagnostics, look for EC
level = 000300OFCA3.

To det which station causing line errors, go to traffic analysis, sort
by line errors and display NAUN.  The NAUN of the station reporting
the error is the culprit.

720 install problems with os2 2.11 with disk partioned, had to install
2.1 with no partition to get DG install to work.

CC_RTAP works best in an OS2 DOS full screen session.

If no install luck, try C:A:INSTALL instead of starting from A:
drive.

750 install problems.  Try changing from C:\THINKPAD\xxx.SYS to
C:\OS2\xxx.SYS esp for PCMCIA.SYS and COM.SYS compatibility.

SYS 3175 if CS:EIP = xxxx:0000B395.  Known bug, EC has fix.

DGCFGMOD TRMON (or ENMON) * XGA2VGA, to go from XGA to VGA configs.

TR alternate with MADGE Adapter -> Network inactive.

Thinkpad 360 with EN, try IRQ 5, 9, 10, 11, IOBASE = 240.  IRQ 3
doesn't work.

To generate a collision EN frame, transmit a runt (18 bytes) with a
FCS error.

If nothing happening with DG, make sure /NOMSG flag isn't present in
the configs icon settings.

Fatal error installing and running device driver.  Password messed up.
Note, the device driver will load ok at boot up.

No 16/4 dg adapter found in Notebook.  Loaded wrong device driver at
install.

To run dual EN DG sessions, need to specify slot = x in config.sys or
during install to indicate which card is related to which session.

If DG install will not offer TR or EN option.  Erase all remnants of
previous install and try new code level or set of diskettes.

755 notebooks.  Need SHAREBASE = D4000 for EN to work.  Default was
D0000.

To bypass 3175 errors when saving buf to file in interpreter session.
1.Capture data 2.exit analyzer 3.x\DGNA\DGPA /bdgtr0$ (or bdgen0$).

UNPASS1 xx xx ...  (password) to tell if password corresponds to MAC
addr or not.

DRVLEVEL IN DGNA directory to get adapter id from 2nd line of numbers.

Error 2001 with notebook.  Try Sharbase = D8000, MMIO Base = DC000.
Play with interupt level.  Also the device driver on customers
installation disk may be corrupted.

If install new version of OS2 and getting Err=2 when trying to run DG.
Libpath variable messed up.  Re-install DG.

If adapter card in slot 8 and driver not loading.  Transfer card to
another slot.

Error F017.  Key needs to be reloaded or inserted.

Error 3044 with LAPS and DG as alternate.  Make sure they're not using
interupt 2 and 9. Same interupt on thinkpads.

Trap D. Buffers too big for available memory.

If you get static noise that sounds like audible clicks during screen
refresh.  Move adapter to a different slot.

!  1 = key not attached.  !  2 = invalid char.  !  3 wrong length.  !
4 CRC failed (wrong data).

Out of memory during install.  Config.sys or ?  file too big (> 14k).

Ethernet Network inactive.  Some other device driver using Ethernet
card.

Europe uses a day-month format instead of month-day.  Need the day and
month with the "date" fnc to get a U.S.  key to work.

If ICRMU0 fails to load.  Be sure PCMCIA and VPCMCIA drivers aren't
rem'd out.

If message " Cannot start TRMON.EXE ". DG will not run with OS2 1.3.

To get 750 diagnostics.  Hold down F1 during power on.

If having trouble with 2 adapters in same machine.  Look in
x:\IBMCOM\PROTOCOL.INI and force one adapter to primary, socket = 1 or
2 and one to alternate, socket = 2 or 1.

Problems running 2 adapters with thinkpads.  Do not use NTS2 to define
the adapter, let the DG install pgm define it as alternate.

Traffic analysis Analysis Type Protocol Matrix is primary file used
for Landoctor input.

Change base addr in MYTE.BAT if DG install changes the address of 3270
adapter during install.

For ISA machines, the Dip switch setting cannot conflict with RAM addr
space setting on the device line in config.sys.

If OS2 installed on any drive other than c:, on line help from menus
doesn't work (lower code levels?).

If you select install TR only and TR and EN installed.  Didn't hit
space bar when selecting TR only.

ERR = 2 when trying to run DG.  Did customer reboot after install.

If DG driver will not load/run on L40.  Make sure optical drivers
loaded before DG drivers.

If ring map is showing only the Dataglance.  Inserted on intelligent
hub at wrong speed and DG is all that is on the ring.

Strange errors incl 3175 or keys not working.  Buffers to big for
available memory.  Need 8 Meg free.

For thinkpad.  Socket A = 1 (top) Socket B = 2 (bot).  Reversed for
AST.

Error 3044.  Card not inserted in the socket specified.  Or change
MMIO Base from CC000.

MOD 95 config.  EN:  IOBASE 200H, RAM BASE DC000H, BIOS ROM disabled,
INT LVL 3. TR:  PRIMARY ADAPTER, DATA RATE 16 MBPS, ROM ADDR RANGE
DA000 - DBFFF, RAM SIZE ABD ADDR RANGE D4000 - D7FFF, INT LVL 2.

ISA interupt levels:  TR should be 7, EN can be 9 for EN and TR to
work together.  EN:  SHAREBASE = D8000, CHRDY = FAST, IOADR = 300H.
TR:  SHAREBASE = D000.  EN adapter set with CONFIG program, TR with
switches on card.

If you fill up the disk with " Capture to Disk " option and it's the
same partition that OS2 is using for SWAPPER.DAT, the system with
crash or hang.

If driver fails to load with Alloc gdt selector cb failed 1201.  try
changing BUFSIZE = 256k to BUFSIZE = 64k.

Problems getting DG to run.  Be sure they used the updated version of
LOADDSKF to de-compress DG files.  Also may cause install problems.

Trouble with high performance file system.  Be sure IFS = HPFS line is
before the DG device drivers in config.sys.

The DG EN collision count may be different on thinkpads vs PS/2
because the cc adapter only counts 8 bytes and above.

Beacon or Claim Ring Purge issued by machines on ring when one station
on the ring has hardware cable or nic problems.

To get around LAN manager kicking you off the ring.  Start up DG on a
non-lan-mgr ring and move the cable quickly to lan mgr ring.  Allows
you to monitor for 1 min.  Last frame captured is from station that's
kicking DG TAP card off the ring.

if 2000 error.  TAP EEPROMS reversed or Bad code.  TR card not seated
fully.  Running LAPS.

if 2330 error (can't open adapter).  Config ram size = 16k.  Has the
adapter ever worked with any application.

When bridge are used between lans, they may limit the max frame size.
This limits throughput.  With more bridges, the exposure increases.

When installing OS2 on ISA machines, turn external caching off as well
as ROM shadowing and Turbo System speed.

Interupt level 2 doesn't work with ISA machines.  Use level 3.

If not offered the Ethernet or Token Ring option.  Check the file
DGNA.KEY on install disk number 1. The value 3 means TR and EN?  Also
may be related to DGDOSINS.TMP or DGCHGDIR.CMD files?

3044 error.  Later versions of card and socket services may not work.
Version 1.31 will work.

Error code FFFF with Ethernet.  Removing referrences to CMLIB and
changing sharedbase from D0000 to D4000 cleared this problem on a 755.

Nothing happening with Ethernet ie network inactive.  Commenting out
modem statements and removing modem card solved problem.  Modem may
have been using the same interupt or ?  as the EN card.

1206 error.  One customer went from Lan Requester 4.0 to 3.0 to solve
the problem.  Or reduce the size of the DG buffers.

If having problems getting DG to run with Lan Server 4.0.  Go back to
3.0.

There is a socket services problem with WARP on the 755.  Tell users
to go back to 2.1 or 2.11.

3002 or 3044 with Thinkpad 720.  Make sure the power is turned on to
the socket via the reference disk advanced features.

If click on DG icon with Warp and nothing happens.  DGLAUNCH also does
the same thing.  Make sure they aren't running WinmanPM , a utility
from OS2TOOLS.  Works ok with OS2 2.1.

3002 or 3044 if no luck trying anything else, look at the PCMCIA
section in the Thinkpad 750 manual p 2-12.

FDDI DG will not insert onto a ring.  Cannot hook FDDI to the back end
of a concentrator.  Must be at least one other station next to DG.

To boost performance.  Try commenting out the high resolution
timestamp driver.

Protocol extension development toolkit.  DGPIDK * on the DGNA userid
account.

3044 with thinkpad or laptop.  Try the new device driver dgtr0$.sys
dated 4/19/95.

3044 Thinkpad 701 701C.  TR and EN worked using TR:  MMIOBASE=D0000
SHAREBASE=D4000 IRQ 15.  EN:  SHAREBASE=D8000 IRQ=11.

750 750c system hangs lockup during boot up.  Be sure your autodrv or
autodrv2 stmnts are after pcmcia drivers and before the DG drivers.

After installing the fixpac on thinkpads, need to run pcmcinst2 ??  to
re-install the pcmcia drivers to get DG to work.

Network General Sniffer 4.x saves it's trace files in compressed
format by default.  Need to change to standard format to be DG
compatible.

Start a new capture using display filter doesn't work (filter gets
disabled) for all code after DG Ver 1.2.

2001 error with P70.  Bad adapter.

To get remote command line interface to work change the dglaunch parm
from /GO to /RUN in the DGCMD.CMD file?

Install program will only offer token ring or ethernet.  Have customer
delete all the newer files on install disk #1, esp the DGNA.PWD.

VCOM.SYS and COM.SYS not loading.  Changing the dataglance interupt
from 3 to 7 worked on an ISA machine.

755c 755 with 3044 error or ?  error.  Need the latest device driver.
Look for it on the tip drive of the server (DGTR0$.SYS).

3002 make sure card and socket services are installed.

Ethernet Dataglance on 755 755c 755ce with various lockups incl trap
008 after capturing a few frames.  Download RSS750A Ver 1.15 and
RUT750A Ver 1.32 from DOSCSD.

No dataglance adapter found.  Not a supported adapter or bad adapter
card.

DG not working in warp.  They need the warp fullpack (or at least the
fullpack kernel).

Error code ffff.  Commenting out the cmlib, ibmcom, and lan device
driver strings in config.sys solved the problem.  May be a conflict
with MMIO base address.  If WARP, try the RMVIEW /MEM utility to
determine free space.

3045 errors.  Commenting out all lines in config.sys that had ibmcom,
cmlib, lan, or mpt (removes LAPS etc.)  solved the problem on a 755C.

No ethernet adapter found.  Swapping slots with the ethernet and token
ring adapter solved the problem.  Bad slot or bad contact.

Only IBM Lan Adapter/A gives a reliable account of collision frames
count.  No other supported DG adapter reports this and DG has to guess
based on runts with CRC error.

To get DG working with WARP, try changing the IBM2SS01 to IBM2SS02 or
vica versa in the BASEDEV stmnt.

Mitch Barlow 202 857 4814 had DG TR and EN running on a Butterfly
laptop.  Lost his key, I gave him some passwords ie.  owes us a favor.

CMOL is CMIP over LLC.  CMOT is CMIP over TCP/IP.  The last letter is
the key.

DG can be launched from cmd line but not the desktop.  Also the
install program fails when the graphics start.  Verify using correct
video drivers.  For VGA use VVGA.SYS not VSVGA.SYS.

Error 2000 or "The adapter is not a dataglance adapter" in 755 with
two token ring cards.  Put DG adapter in bottom slot.

3044 with 755.  Try interupt 5, 2 doesn't work.

Trap E. DG will not work with first version of WARP.  Need Fullpack or
later.

GADGPASS utility on DGNA account to generate a password for the
customer based on mac address.

LOADKEY utility on MOD80 server to burn a fresh key.

To reburn a key at customer site, have them run DGNACODE, you then
take that code and enter it into the GETCODE utility then give them
the resultant hex string.

To reburn credit card TR adapter.  Use "TAP upgrade for credit card"
diskette in diskette container on JR's desk.  Place adapter and
diskette in AST or other laptop and power on.

GASEND UID NODE from the DGNA account to send a copy of the code to
UID NODE.

LAN Management CD - a full version of DG plus demo is on this CD.
Customer can run demo.  If they decide they want product, they should
purchase it, and will obtain a key.  They can also call the DG hotline
at 919-254-1364 to request a 30 day temp key.

3044 - Thinkpad 750C - Use new version of DGTR0$.SYS, available on
NetView BBS.  (919-543-7141).

3044 - Thinkpad - Make sure that statements in CONFIG.SYS are in
correct order:  PCMCIA, DG Token Ring, Card Services, Socket Services

DG driver "is not a valid device driver".  The IFS statement in
config.sys needs to be before the DG device driver.

In INSTALL, not getting correct adapter card choices (Ethernet, Token
Ring).  There will be a label on the key specifying which adapters are
supported on that key.  Customer must have correct key.

Get Socket services not installed in INSTALL on WARP.  Should just hit
ENTER to bypass.

Trap d 000d.  Erase os2\system\swapper.dat then add line in config.sys
SWAPPATH=C:\OS2\SYSTEM 2048 11264 if you want a 9 Meg capture buffer.

3044 with 755 755Cx.  Do not use C0000 or D0000 for base address.

A customer has told me that new Thinkpad 755C Utility disks place a
line in CONFIG.SYS like:  DEVICE=C:\THINKPAD\ICRMU01 /MA C100-CFFF,
D100-DFFF.  He was getting 2000 and 2001 errors due to this.  It looks
like it was a memory conflict with settings on th e DGTR0$ line.

Error FFFF - Ethernet and Token Ring DG cards.  Customer had
INTERFACE=0 on one device driver line, INTERFACE=1 on the other.
Setting both to 0 worked.  INTERFACE should always be set to 0 unless
you have two of the same type of DG cards, then one should be 1, and
the other should be 2.

RTAP:  Precursor code to DGlance that works on non-DG TR cards and is
available to internals only (see PCCBBS).  Limitations:  Takes 15
seconds to insert on the network; Can be removed from network by LNM;
TR only.

RMVIEW:  WARP utility that allows display of memory and IRQ use
(RMVIEW /MEM, RMVIEW /IRQ).  Useful to debug IRQ, TRAP 000D, SHARED
BASE, etc.  problems.
