  4. TalkLink is a new IBM service available via IBMLink (TM).  Customers can
  5. converse electronically with each other and the worldwide internal IBM
  6. community on a wide variety of topics related to the acquisition,
  7. installation, support and use of products and services marketed by IBM
  8. and/or a related business affiliate.

  14. HIGHLIGHTS
  15.  
  16. TalkLink provides the following capabilities for customers to review
  17. information electronically, submit questions/ requests and receive
  18. answers/information.
  19.  
  20. Conferences and forums -- question and answer bulletin boards contain
  21. various product related topics.  Items posted on this bulletin board are
  22. shared between BBS users and IBM personnel worldwide.
  23.  
  24. Customer-to-customer messaging -- customers can send private messages to
  25. each other.
  26.  
  27. Support -- customers can submit or view problem reports.  These entries
  28. will be responded to by the conference/forum owner, normally within a
  29. certain time period.  Users can also place orders for product related
  30. materials.

  32. Software library -- downloads application programs and unloads
  33. contributions.
  34.  
  35. News and announcements -- contains recent information regarding products
  36. and services.

  38. Set display options -- customizes personal choices, such as, display
  39. colors.

  41. Modes of operation:

  43.     Interactive -- Users are connected online to TalkLink while using its
  44.           facilities.

  46.     Batch -- Users can download the forums to their personal computer and
  47.           read the entries offline.  Users can also respond offline and the
  48.           entries will be saved and sent to the host the next time the the
  49.           user is connected in batch mode.  Initially, this facility is
  50.           available for OS/2 (R) users only.

  52. SEARCH SERVICE

  54. Search IBM databases via interactive mode -- This search facility includes
  55. a large question and answer database of items, IBM System Center Flashes,
  56. and IBM's problem management libraries.  This database contains information
  57.  
  58. about problems and fixes.  Not all general discussion forums have related
  59. information in these databases.
