TITLE: INSTALLING XR06200 SVGA MODE CAUSES COLOR
CORRUPTION ON S3 SYSTEMS.
DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:
After installing the xr06200 svga s3 drivers the system
will boot to a desktop that appears darker than normal and
the icons along w/ title bars and scroll bars will be
black.
SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION:
Edit the svgadata.pmi file to reference an unknown RAM DAC
chip.
DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:
1. If the desktop cannot be used the reset the system to
vga using the RSPDSPI command. If the desktop is usable
then go to step 3.
2. Install svga using the "DSPINSTL" command from an
OS2 session.
3. Open an OS2 session and change to the OS2 dir.
4. Edit the svgadata.pmi file using an editor.
5. Scroll to the section called "OCLEANUPt".
6. Change the following statement from :
HI-COLOR DAC by ... . to HI-COLOR DAC by unknown 7. Save
the file, shutdown and reboot the system.
