  3. Running NetWare Lite^ V1.1 SERVER and CLIENT under OS/2^ 2.X

  7. Requirement 1:
  8. --------------
  9.  
  10. Getting SERVER and CLIENT to work under OS/2^ requires that the
  11. Novell^ NetWare^ REQUESTER for OS/2^ 2.X be installed.  Besides the
  12. Requester, the update the for Requester called NSD201.ZIP MUST also
  13. be installed on the OS/2^ system.
  14.  
  15. Requirement 2:
  16. --------------
  17.  
  18. SERVER and CLIENT must be started from a unique DOS SESSION and
  19. environment.  The DOS SESSION that SERVER and CLIENT must be
  20. started under has to be run from an image file;  this image file is
  21. created from a bootable DOS diskette.  The image file is created by
  22. using the OS/2^ utility called VMDISK.EXE located in the \OS2\MDOS
  23. subdirectory.  This DOS diskette should also contain the following
  24. files:
  25.         COMMAND.COM -- from the DOS that created the boot disk.
  26.         DOSVIPX.SYS -- from the NetWare subdirectory created by the
  27.                        Requester.
  28.         FSFILTER.SYS -- from the \OS2\MDOS subdirectory created by OS/2^
  29.         AUTOEXEC.BAT -- set up like shown in EXAMPLE 1.
  30.         CONFIG.SYS -- set up like shown in EXAMPLE 2.

  125. The NET.CFG is in the NWLITE subdirectory on the C: drive if NetWare
  126. Lite^ was set up as a server or client/server.  If would be found on
  127. some other drive letter possibly if NetWare Lite^ was set up as a
  128. client only.

  130. The parameters in the NET.CFG below will not be used in the
  131. OS/2-NetWare Lite^ set up; however, if other paramters are needed
  132. for NetWare Lite specific functions, then the following NET.CFG
  133. would get used:

  143. The NET.CFG in the OS/2^ 2.X root directory.  This is used by the
  144. requester when OS/2^ is booting up to set up the netword board and
  145. its invornment.  If network level or driver level parameters are to
  146. be added, then they should be added to the following NET.CFG file:

  163. REMARKing change made to then if this is a NetWare Lite^ network
  164. only.  If big NetWare^ is involved, then they should be left
  165. unREMARKed.

  240. NOTE:  The setup and settings listed above in one way that they NetWare
  241. Lite^ V1.1 and OS/2^ 2.X have worked together.  These settings may be
  242. adjusted further for better optimization depending on the system
  243. configuration being used.
  244.  
  245. If the Netware Lite SERVER.EXE is run as shown in Example 2 above, this
  246. may cause a multiple NetWare Lite^ server environment to be slower in
  247. responding during LOGINs, MAPs, CAPTUREs, and other similar circumstances
  248. because the NetWare Lite^ server under OS/2^ is on a time clice.  This
  249. means that when a NetWare Lite^ command is executed, other NetWare Lite^
  250. servers may need to respond and the whole network may have to wait for
  251. the NetWare Lite^ server running under OS/2^ to respond.
  252.  
  253. If only the NetWare Lite^ CLIENT.EXE is run, there should be no network
  254. slow down because this would only be a client machine accessing other
  255. servers on the network eliminating the slow down of clients accessing it
  256. as a server.
